Two weeks ago on a Saturday we brought the front tire and rim to be mounted and balanced for our BMW R1200C. We brought it to cycle gear because my husband is a rider's preferred member and we get a discount in store for tire mounting. We live almost an hour away in Greenwich. We were told it should be done by Sunday afternoon. We did not hear anything all day Sunday, so during my lunch break on Monday I called to see if it was ready. They said it would be ready that evening so I drove down after work to get it. I figured it was a one off, they were busy and it's hard to find staff, we get it. My husband rode the BMW once and all the wheel weights fell off causing us to have to bring the tire back down to have them replaced. We cleaned the tire both times and we were told the second time they had to scrub a waxy film off the rim. Ok but wouldn't you think this would be step one in your check list when mounting tires??? This past Saturday we brought down the back tire to our Harley Davidson Electra glide ultra classic. We brought in the rim and the tire and was told that they could not put the tire on the machine with the drive pulley on it, again we live an hour away. They were also able to fit the BMW rim on the machine with double break rotors but that is besides the point. We asked if they had tools we could use to get it off, they did not and directed us to the Lowes across the street. We went to Lowes, bought the tools and removed the pulley. They then told us that there may or may not be a tube in the tire. Okay well if there is one then we will pay for it. We were told that it should be done by Tuesday. OK. Tuesday is here and I had to call to get an update on the tire I was told there was one ahead of it. Okay cool. Then we got a call asking if we had gotten a tube. Well we had not because it was not confirmed that we needed a tube (the tire wall said tubeless tire). We asked if they had one. Nope not in stock so we ordered one through cycle gear and we are having it delivered to the store. We were going to bring the front Harley tire down to also get mounted and balanced but at this point the 25 dollar savings through the preferred riders isn't worth the gas we have to use to drive down there. We will be going elsewhere. It's sad because revzilla is an amazing place to shop and we really like it, but cycle gear is a definite...
Read more"This has been an incredibly frustrating experience. Initially, I was pleased when the online tire I wanted was out of stock, but the phone representative offered a transfer from another store. He was helpful in arranging this and told me I could pay when I dropped off the rims. However, he failed to mention that I needed to remove the drive gear beforehand. I attempted to drop off the rims the following Tuesday, only to be informed about the drive gear. I returned on Wednesday, the day the tires were supposedly arriving, and was told they were in. It was at this point that tubes were mentioned for the first time. Owen, assisting a new employee, noted they had been ordered and marked as supplied. When I went to pay, I was told payment wasn't due until pick-up, which was scheduled for the next day, Thursday, when Chad would be in. Thursday passed without a call. On Friday around noon, I called and was told my tires were next in line. Understanding they were busy, I didn't call back until around 4 PM, as I finish work at 5 PM. That's when I was informed they didn't have the tubes and that I was supposed to provide them. Additionally, they couldn't locate my tires because I hadn't paid for them yet – despite being told earlier that I couldn't pay until pick-up. I inquired about purchasing tubes from them, but they only had one. They said if I could get the other, they would start with the single tire they had. I left work early, obtained the tube, and returned. I was then told the tires wouldn't be done until Saturday. At this point, I'm completely bewildered by the conflicting information. The manager, Chad, said he was busy but would stay late to do my tires. I agreed to wait, as it was around 6 PM and they close at 8 PM. However, he then stated they couldn't cash me out after closing. I offered to pay again, but was told I still couldn't pay until the work was completed. This contradicts what I was told earlier by multiple people – that transfers aren't done until the tires are paid for. Chad then began talking about staying on his own time, which doesn't resolve the current issue. I can't get them until tomorrow. I need to pay before they can get the tires, but the tires are already there, and I still can't pay. The entire process makes no sense, and I haven't even received a final total. Save yourself the stress and go elsewhere. At this point, I have serious doubts about the quality of the work, if it ever...
Read moreJohn at Cyvle Gear, Albany, NY, is a phenominal individual to do business with as well as his staff and a great assortment of products to pick from as well. They helped me pick out a new helmet as my previous helmet was damaged. I also wanted to dive into getting a helmet stereo setup for riding with others and communicating, so they pointed me in the direction of a Cardo Edge that fit what I was looking for best. With the information and knowledge they presented me with, I feel like it pointed me in the right direction with no misleading information at all. It was a smooth, quick, clean transaction and when the K6S didn’t fit with my face mask, they took it back 3 days later and ordered me a new one to be shipped to my house, with shipping free of charge as well.
Professional and knowledgable people with great work conduct. Very happy with my experience. They really seemed like they cared about me and everyone else who stepped foot in there.
Thank you...
