Sailing Montauk's Catamaran Mon Tiki — Attraction in Town of East Hampton

Our time sailing with Catamaran Mon Tiki was nothing short of amazing! We booked it for our honeymoon and it was so easy to select the experience we wanted and the time/date options. We wanted the sunset experience—and man did we get it! Incredible views.

The website and booking was clear and worked smoothly. They also made it easy to just pay the deposit and then the rest a week or so later! But you had the option to just pay it all upfront as well.

Finding them at the marina was also easy they had someone there to greet us once we made it out onto the docks close to the Catamaran Mon Tiki sign and within a few minutes we were off!

Our captain Jerry was awesome. He gave us the rules and the run down of everything as we set sail and then gave us historical facts and landmarks along the way. Otherwise he let us just enjoy—he was so chill and made us feel right at home. It wasn’t super windy so we did not really sail-which didn’t bother us- we just made it out to where he wanted us to, put the sails ups and just floated in that area for probably an hour enjoying the sunset, some wine we had brought, and jamming to our music before heading back in.

Captain David is awesome. My partner and I had a horrible experience with another sailing business not too far from Mon Tiki, so we sought out to find the owner to file a formal complaint. It was around the end of the day and the trip that we originally booked for pretty much left us stranded. We ran into Captain David, who we thought was the owner but turns out he had no affiliation to that other business. He heard our story and although it was the end of the day, he offered to let us book him for one last trip just so that our trip out to MTK would not be a waste. He is a genuinely good guy. We got to sail on the catamaran and learn the mechanics of how they work. He was pleasant to speak to and hilarious. He is extremely knowledgeable about sailing and runs his business as a well-seasoned professional. I would absolutely recommend Mon Tiki and we will definitely be back to sail with them again.

My family of 5 was excited to sunset sail with MonTiki last week. Prior to loading the boat my 6 yr old almost stepped off the dock. My wife had a knee jerk reaction to call out his name loudly. This is when captain David told my wife to "dial it down a notch" and to "let him fall I the water and I will get him." I suppose that would have made for a calmer atmosphere? After the incident was over Captin David kept pushing the issue. First he wanted to take my 3 young boys away for a private conversation without my consent. Then he took me aside and told me he would refund my money and not let us board because he was concerned for my wife's reactions. Keep in mind this was way past the single incident of my son almost falling in the water. I strongly felt that Captain David was looking for an excuse to have an adult only sunset cruise.
