I was prepared to drop some decent coin on a pair of boots. Anywhere from $500 to $600. I found a pair I really liked and fit well for about $525.00. I went up to the counter and told them the brand and model. The clerk just stared at me. She then asked if I had a question or what my concern was. I said I want to buy them. She said ok, go grab them and bring them up then. I was confused. I asked her where the boxes are. She proceeds to tell me there are no boxes, the ones on the shelf are what you buy.
Look. I get it. At a normal shoe store (at least you get a box there) it's typical for shoes to be tried on and sold, and nobody complains or thinks twice.
I'm about to drop almost $600.00 on a pair of boots that have been tried on by 100 different people and then I don't even get the box the boots came in.
No. Absolutely not!!! That's not how this works.
I laughed and told the clerk that's never going to happen.
I left and went to a local western shop about 5 miles away. They fitted me for a pair I liked and gave me a brand new pair in the box. Service and a smile.
Boot barn, I don't buy used clothing and shoes. Especially when it comes to very expensive boots. Nice try!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had bought a pair of boots in Grand Rapids at boot barn, and within six months they started to fall apart. I live in Appleton, so I brought them to the Appleton boot barn and after some negotiation, the manager was able to get in contact with the Cody, James, boot dealer and refund The order. I got a gift card and was able to get some nice shirts and a jacket. Along with that order, I got a coupon and I wanted to pick up a hat so I went in the boot barn today. I was fumbling through the hats and Travis came over and helped me figure out exactly what size was right for me, and when they did not have the color in size, I was looking for in store he ordered it, along with dealing with several coupons and gift cards that are kind of a hassle. He happily helped me find exactly what I needed and was awesome to work with. I have had less than stellar experiences with other boot barn employees like the people I had to speak with before the manager made things right with my boots, but Travis changed my opinion on boot barn Appleton and I appreciate that about him. Thanks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been in retail for the last 30 years. I was a store manager at RCC western store in the 90ās. I am very impressed in the inventory ( although it was in complete disarray) but when I walked in the store at 9 am on a Tuesday , I immediately got the feeling the store manager has given up. My intention was to buy a good quality felt hat and possibly a pair of exotic boots. ( I was wearing luccesse crocs) at no point while I was wandering the store for a good half hour do I get a greeting or more than a glare or nod. There were 3 or 4 employees and only a couple customers in the store. I have been to other boot barns and have been treated very well. Unfortunately for the Appleton store, they have lost my purchase today. In the future? I donāt know. Iām always willing to give...
