Read moreIt's a scam. This may geared more for 2-3 year old children. But even so, it's weak entertainment, or a nature experience, at best. Pricing is $16 for adults (ages 12 and up I think), and $10 for kids. I paid $84 for the family. It's not clear the reason to charge adults for the experience. There isn't anything for them to do. The staff are unpaid volunteers who are trying to add their contribution as a National Honors Society member on their resume. But they are unenthusiastic and disinterested. One guy (I posted a photo) was working on his phone under the table. Didn't even make eye contact. Another guy just slept on the table. Maybe he is tired, or just bored running the desk where you can color a paper crown. Hi! I'm so happy to see you and joyful that you can be here for this experience! Yeah, right. Nice dinosaur animatronics. Maybe the money is going to cover the electric costs. They have a male and female peacock. A handful of other animals to see. Not much educational value. There is a map which shows a path around a pond, as well as an area to walk thru a nature trail and thru the woods. But it was closed! It's 5 minutes to walk around the pond, even if you go slow. They listed a puppet show for the kids. Please. It's done in a small area. No room for parents to sit. And it's a guy (that you can see) behind a box. Was poorly scripted. And only 3 minutes long. I posted that video to save you the trip. Please write a script with ChatGPT. It'll be infinitely better. Alchemy show was the same (and inaudible because it was outdoors). Nothing to take home except LOL memories and my...
Read moreThis is a review for the Dinosaurs exhibit (or lack thereof) at the Tanglewood Preserve in Rockville Center. Took our twin boys here today, expecting to kill maybe a few hours of our day with some dinos. We were shocked to learn upon arrival that our just over 2 yr olds were $12 each (adults are $15, under 1 yr old is free - not the norm almost anywhere). Social distancing policies in full effect, which was to be expected, but that takes away a good 1/4 of the interactiveness of the indoor exhibits. Outdoor areas have a few animals but all exhibits are in dire need of repair or updating...we are talking wild rabbits and owls and a sad turtle pond...nothing attractive. Indoor area is decent. Some cool skeletons of the Big Dinos your kids will love. A uramastix and alligator in small tanks. A bird here and there. The "animatronic" dinos are super lame. Basically move a tail here or a head there with some very unrealistic sounds. Not even worth our time. All in all, if your child can't read or isn't interested in hearing you read facts to them, steer clear.
The preserve itself is in major need of sprucing up as well. Tons of garbage on our walk around the grounds.
Overall, just an overpriced sad attempt to kill a few hours...
