The pretzel appetizer was great and a hit with my children. The sauce it came with was cheesy, great marinara and pepperoni (cheesy as in full of cheese deliciousness), at least I liked it. My two kids (one is under 3, another is under 10). The fries and mozzarella sticks were good nothing too much to remark about.
The braised beef sandwich I had was was good overall. Two comments on it: First, it was slightly too much sauce (would have been good to have the additional sauce on the side), but only because it made the bread soggy. I was OK in the beginning of the meal, but as dinner progressed, the bread was a bit soggy. It was still good overall. Second, it was slightly over salted (more on this next). If you order this, I would recommend asking for a little less salt. You can always add more if needed.
My wife ordered the Filet Mignon as this was a splurge dinner date with the kids. This dish was much more salted and the beef was dry on the inside. Definitely not what I would expect, especially at the price point. My wife had about three or four bites and asked me what I thought. I did find it a bit salty, so I drank some water to somewhat cleanse my mouth and also found it overly salty. My wife sent the dish back after the waiter asked if everything was OK (I can't think of any other time in over 14 years that she's done this). She did not order something else. I'm sure it would have been an excellent dish except it was significantly over seasoned.
I am giving an overall rating of four stars because of how the restaurant handled the situation. When I received the bill, I asked that her dish be removed from the tab since she barely touched it. After I asked that it be removed, our server consulted with someone else in the restaurant and it was removed without additional question or discussion.
This is a family oriented restaurant. We were seated outside along with several other families with small children. We asked uf they had paper and crayons, but was told 'no.' We ended up giving our nearly three year old a quick Bluey episode until appetizers came out, if anything to avoid a potential meltdown. If anyone from the restaurant reads this, please have crayons and paper available in case parents ask. We do not have electronic devices at our dining table at home, nor do we have them when outside our home.
Although both of our main entrees were over salted (one of which we had to return), my wife and I agreed that would dine here again. Since the restaurant removed the item from our tab without additional question. Although our entrees were over seasoned, we did not leave with a...
Read moreI never wrote a restaurant review before but I felt the need to do so for River Mill. This is the first time a restaurant’s food had left such a good impression on me that I was planning out the review as I was still eating my meal! My family was seated quickly and the first thing I noticed was how much natural light the tall windows let in. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quiet and serene, a beautiful place to relax and just enjoy your food with your loved ones. Our waiter was a tall burly man with short white hair, I wish I got his name. Aside from the amazing food, he was the real star of the show! Amazing service, with friendly banter and it seemed like he memorized the menu from heart. As I was leaving I saw him answer the restaurant phone while holding onto three trays full of food. I hate dining in NYC because of their pretentious foods and the 18% tip being the smallest recommended one, but good lord this place’s service is next level! If the waiter had demanded a 100% tip I would fork it over! The prices are nice, I underestimated how big the servings here would be (they’re huge!) You get plenty of food for a reasonable price, and the quality of the food was amazing! I am an avid seafood hater but the shrimp in their kung pao chicken and shrimp was incredible! They were some of the fattest shrimps I’ve ever seen, with the juiciest meat inside! Didn’t taste fishy at all and I forgot I was eating seafood! None of those nerd shrimps in sight, just big beefy boys one after the other. The shorty pizza we ordered was huge, with tons of short rib bits. They don’t hold back on meat here, it was amazing! I only wish there were more of those mushrooms and asparagus in the wagyu tidbit dish, they were truly to die for. I could eat a bowl of just those mushrooms! There must be cocaine in their seasoning because the food was so addicting. I found it slightly salty to my liking but my family had no issues so I think that’s more of a personal preference. The water had some typical floaties due to the ice melting, and the bathroom lights were off which confused me. The wagyu tidbit dish had an amazing garlic bread on the bottom, which got soaked in all the delicious juice from the steak that it ended up wet and chewy, so I think it would have been better to keep the meat and bread separate, but again these are personal preferences. Amazing food and...
Read moreI really like the food, and we probably eat here or get takeout once a month. But lately, my order's been messed up. Last time, I called, and the hostess taking my pickup order sounded annoyed. They forgot my fries with the two meals. I was fine with the extra charge when I ordered, but I'm not cool with them forgetting the chips that were supposed to come with it, charging me for their mistake, and now my food's getting cold at home while I wait for them to fix it again. We lived near this place for years and always thought about going but never pulled the trigger. Well we finally did.
The waitress/bartender was great. She was on point with all of her selections from the menu.
We started with buffalo chicken roll and the chicken caprese flatbread as appetizers. The egg rolls were delicious and pretty big and the flatbread was really good too.
As you can see from the pictures the Prime Pork chop was horrible. This pork chop had to be the best pork chop I ever had in a restaurant. I know the picture doesn't say much but the kale was perfectly season and crispy. The potatoes tender and the pork chop...oh the pork chop was cooked to perfection. Moist and tender and the cherry onion marmalade was to die for. I don't even like cherries! My wife had the maple soy salmon that she loved. My children had the cuban pork naan which was disappointed to him only because it wasn't a pressed as a sandwich but it was still good. The #hashtag burger was pretty good too with...
