3 stars for calling me back the same day. Minus 2 stars for the information that Mike gave me on the phone and the high price. As an person knowledgeable about plumbing and electrical, I wanted to price out a job for my house and have Pipe Doctor do it or figure it out myself considering the job was pretty easy and straightforward. It not that difficult to read a wiring diagram on a single zone switching relay. I have an existing circulator pump coming off of my steam boiler that circulates hot water for the water baseboard in the basement. I told Mike that I wanted a switch relay and aquastat installed to run this one zone in the basement and control when the pump goes on. The system already has a pump and thermostat in the basement. I asked him for a price to do the install and he said that I would have to pay for a service call to have someone look at my system. I told him it’s a straightforward job and figured he could give me an estimate on the phone without having to do a service call. He said ballpark $1000. Considering the parts total $200 and should only take max 2 hours, this price was very high. I told Mike that I didn’t expect $1000 for the job and he said it’s a ballpark and no job is straightforward. Then he said take care and hung up. Since the secretary told me earlier that they charge $225 and hour, I was ok paying $450 plus parts. Should not take more than two hours considering the parts are both on the outside of the boiler and nothing has to be taken apart inside. I guess Mike doesn’t like to work with an educated consumer because he seemed pretty upset that I was asking for an estimate and told him the parts I needed installed. As a business owner myself, this service didn’t feel right. I didn’t question anything that he was saying nor say anything inappropriate to upset the guy. I first noticed this company on “you tube” just yesterday - I have an alpine 210 condensing high efficiency gas burner that hasn’t worked properly since Friday - i had 3 contractors at my home and no one was able to get it operating properly -I was told it needed a new blower motor and a swirlplate assembly etc etc - no part houses had the items in stock - everything is back ordered - the unit would not maintain the firing of the gas flame , unit rumbled and temps in home were in the low 60’s at best - the boiler could not get water to the high temp required to properly heat the home -

I contacted the pipe Dr this am and spoke with Jennifer who could not have been more accommodating —they sent Daniel their tech this pm .. Daniel spent two hours running diagnostics of combustion and settings while on the phone with a US Boiler tech - all settings were reset , observed and re -adjusted to proper settings until it was perfect , took over an hour .. the boiler is now firing properly , boiler water temps are as they should be, home temp is perfect and the rumbling is gone , etc —

I couldn’t be more pleased with Daniel’s service and professionalism - he’s an asset to this company and congrats to the “pipe dr” for selecting him - don’t let him go !! Thank you Pipe Dr !!

Ps- I was just short of ripping the entire unit out and purchasing a more conventional gas type unit this am !!
