I've been a patient of Dr. Novak almost 25 years. I had an appointment scheduled, but became ill with lots of pain 7 days prior. I was calling the office to try and get any cancelations, normal request. I waited npo for 16 hrs waiting on an endoscopy. Dr. Ono. And Dr Novak spoke of me not to me as if I wasn't even there. Agreed to discharge me with zero medical diagnosis ,and in worse pain. Zero medication. Zero advice. Zero follow up. Like I was garbage,in pain begging for help from my dr. I eventually went to mercy. Tried to keep him in the loop but he wouldn't respond. He is affiliated there and with a 5 day stay he should've came to the hospital. I eventually got an endoscopy by Dr. Bonaasara who cared to look in my stomach to find I had gastritis and possibly hpylori. The pain was so intense. Why just ognore me. Why have his rude partner tell me not to call anymore. My calling for cancelations to get into his office before my original appointment annoyed the girls in the office as well. They speak to you very unprofessionally. You ask questions and there is oh I don't know well find out! Do your job. You don't get to put people in further harm by blocking their ability to get proper care. His discussion with Dr Ono was she had this test 10 momths ago so it wasn't needed. My gastritis was acute and now from waiting is pretty bad. I was ignored and treated as if I wasn't his patient. I called after the scoping for a follow up and the office says oh it's you. Hold on. He calls me back and ended the relationship as a patient of his. He told me he doesn't do concierge medicine. Had no interest in what happen . As a sucraid deficient patient it's best considering he admitted to dr Ono he doesn't do and real testing or treatment for it. Dr Ono wanted to steal me as a patient I said no I know dr novak 25 years. He will direct me best but then agreed on no care for me in the hospital. Im quite confused as to why a Dr would ignore a patient 5 days in the hospital whom is his patient, and is affiliated with. Im quite glad we ended ties because now I see a specialist that knows more about my condition and is willing to help educate me more plus cares. Do not need him in the hospital he wont show up. I tried for 7 days to get him to call me back. Nope. No call back .I tried to let him know I couldn't eat for 7 days. His friend Dr ono called him via cellphone in which he did call back though, again the dr spoke to him, who did not treat me at all either. I guess minds think.a like. Was a scary helpless situation being left to just sit there waiting 16 hrs for a test no food,no water, nothing to have your dr say no endoscopy opy needed. He must have a crystal ball that told him...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDr. Novak has been my Gastroenterologist for many years; upon meeting Dr. Novak I just had that GUT feeling that he was going to address and hopefully resolve my issues. Over time I've experienced just about all that my stomach could throw at me, and each time Dr. Novak has been responsive and sensitive to my urgent need for care.
Very professional, and I never thought I would find a doctor that could match my sense of humor towards my condition and yet ne concise in his medical communication.
Many others much closer to me, but I will make the trip as required as I am totally satisfied and trusting being in his...

When I was going through my medical history I mentioned that i had several mental illness, and he made a comment saying āguess what, thatās lifeā which felt very demeaning; i donāt think something thatās caused me to go to the ER several times is ājust lifeā. I assume he said these things since I am a young adult, but I have been dealing with these issues for 10 years. Regardless of that, it was an inappropriate and unprofessional comment that made me feel like I was not taken seriously...
