This rehab has to be one of the worst there is. My mom fell back in August and stayed there for 5 weeks. Even though she was there for a fractured wrist, I explained to them upon admission that she has dementia and she needed the bed rails and to be moved up to the memory care wing. The rails were never put up and she was never moved to memory care. They claimed the rails have to be approved by the head md upon evaluation and that they didn't have any beds available in the memory care wing. I had also made them aware that my mom wanders at night, as is typical of the dementia. As a result, she ended up falling when she tried to get out bed by herself. There were no bed alarms either. They had also taken it up in themselves to discontinue her quetiapine, which she was taking for her dementia agitation. It should never be stopped abruptly. When i called it into question, the nurse had the nerve to tell me they titrated her dose downward over a few days by giving her 12.5mg tabs. I guess she wasn't aware that I am a pharmacist and I know 12.5mg tabs are NOT available in that medication. Another LIE. She began having redness in her groin area so the md ordered Zesorb powder for her. When I asked my mom's aid if they had been bringing the powder, she said no. When I asked the floor nurse she said they apply it 2 times a day, which was a blatant lie bc my mom's aid was with her from morning til night and she would change her and dress her. When the nurse checked the medication cart to show me the powder, of course it was NOT in there. Another LIE Her insurance paid for her to stay until 9/19 but she was discharged on 9/23 so we paid out of pocket for rhose 3 days (9/20,9/21 and 9/22- check was cashed by them). We just received a bill labeled "services 9/1-9/19" for $1568 which were days that were covered by her insurance. ZERO details as to what bill was for!!! That means yet another set of phone calls for me trying to figure out what they're doing. We had also received a bill for medication that was supposed to be given to my mom upon discharge. All her meds during her stay were supposed to be covered in full by her insurance. I checked with them before calling the pharmacy. The meds disappeared and after my calling numerous times they "found" the meds and sent them back to the pharmacy, which it's against the law to return a medication to their stock if it's left the pharmacy. A few of the medications were returned with missing tabs and the pharmacy was trying to say we were responsible, which we moat definitely are NOT! One shady situation after another with this place. I can't wait to make multiple calls to see what they're trying to bill...
Read moreThis was my first time coming to the Townhouse, they’re easily located on Hempstead turnpike. There is plenty of parking surrounding their property, I was greeted with a warm smile welcoming me from the front desk. The front desk employee was named, Sidi, he made me feel at home instantly. He helped me with my check in process and directed me to the elevator. When I got out of the elevator, I passed other employees, everyone made eye contact, spoke and was willing to assist me with locating my mom’s room.
This facility was nice, clean and spacious. They have 4 elevators. I observed Staff members interacting with other patients. There is a seating area on unit where you can sit outside of the bedroom but still on unit to visit your loved ones.
My mom was admitted on Thursday evening and I saw her on Saturday. Other family members seen her on the previous days. My brother and sister in law meet with the OT and PT on Friday and stated how through their assessments were. They asked a lot of questions to really get to know my mom and her functional abilities prior to admission.
When I saw my mom on Sat morning she was nicely groomed, her bed was neatly made and she was positioned comfortably in her bed. Her call bell, remote, cell phone etc… were in reach. The temperature was very comfortable. Her room was huge, very spacious with enough storage space for her clothing and personal items. They also had a nice clean wheelchair with supportive items for her to use. Lots of available pillows for her to use and two nice comfortable chairs for family members to sit.
The lunch they served her was meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas. It looked and smelled good. The staff also took time to check to see how much my mom ate before taking her tray. My mom’s CNA checked on my mom often and let us know she was available if we needed anything.
I’m very impressed by everything and look forward to working with them! My mom is short term but will be transitioned to long term care. This might be the hidden gem in Long Island.
Also, the admission director was exceptional, she helped to make the admission process...
Read moreI have had a loved one in this facility for over three years! There have been many bumps along the way, however, the entire staff and administration are continuously trying to improve upon things in an effort to enhance the quality of life and care for each and every resident!! I am particularly impressed with the precaution they put into place during this God awful pandemic! The unit my sister is in is so carefully guarded, wich is why my sister is safe snd sound and not once was there a problem!! The staff is kind and caring and you can clearly see the personal touch on the residents! I get phone calls and face time and constant correspondence from them regarding her care and status! When you are unable to visit, it certainly is comforting to know she is ok! I can’t think of anything more stressful than having the welfare of hundreds of residents in your hands! It takes compassion, sensitivity, knowledge and quite frankly, a huge set of balls to make decisions that might not be so popular, But in the long run , it’s the right thing to do! I respect that!!! Meredith Ritchie and her entire staff including Sarah Mcgough, Firnan Dorvilus and her nurses and cna’s, all of the therapists, Dr.Tu, who is a physician in townhouse. You will never find a kinder, caring professional person on the planet! He has seen us thru many storms and always manages to be an emotional life jacket for me and my family! Remember, no place is perfect no matter where you go. There will always be some issue you’re not happy with, but when it comes to the truly important things, you can’t beat these people!! They truly deserved a concratulations because they are always working towards constant improvement ! Kudos to all of you snd...
