Veterans Memorial — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

Beautiful, and pretty well maintained, except for the bit of trash that ends up in the lake; that could be cleaned more frequently. Otherwise, a really nice place to appreciate all those who devoted themselves to protecting our freedom, surrounded by the nature of the park.

Pro tip: Don't leave your unwanted pet turtles in the lake. They're not indigenous to the area, don't have a natural predator there, and will contribute to the ruin of the area's environment. Thanks in...

As a veteran this place is awesome unfortunately its hidden with very little signage to help find it even with a GPS SYSTEM. You keep going in circles. Otherwise the place is absolutely beautiful and needs to be published to the community and people in the area. Very good place to meditate and pay respect to the many fallen heroes from all branches of the military. Can used alot of donations and support from the community, local vendors...

Tons of parking lots! Lots of space to run, walk or sightsee. You can use motorized children's/hobby boats in the pond. You can see wildlife. The Veterans Memorial is a great learning experience and a perfect photo op. There's a dog run and the park is huge. You can spend all day here and never get bored. Beautiful park....
