Sweet's Funeral Home — Attraction in Town of Hyde Park

11 years ago this week, Sweet's Funeral Home took care of my mom's funeral. Every year when that day comes around, I remember Mary and the Bob coming to our home to pick up my mom after she passed in my arms. They treated my mom as if she was their own family. As they took my mom out of the house, I told them that I couldn't bear the sight of seeing her in a black bag, so instead they had her sitting slightly upwards wrapped in her blanket and it looked as if she was peacefully sleeping on the stretcher. My mind was able to accept that much better. I'll never forget how kind they were and how much they understood that even though my mom was the one that passed, my husband and I needed a little bit of care also. I can't even begin to say how wonderful the wake was and the beautiful Memorial Cards that I had laminated so they will last forever. I would highly recommend this company to all of you. My experience with Sweet's Funeral Home was nothing short of wonderful. I had a bit of a challenging situation as my Dad passed away out of state. They worked with a local funeral home and truly made the process seamless for me. Ryan and Rob were warm, kind, and compassionate. They were also clear in making sure I knew the path forward so that I could focus on my grieving and not be consumed by the process of laying my Dad to rest. In the midst of our loss, they were a huge support and I needed it. My Dad was also buried in the winter which I could not quite envision but they exceeded my greatest expectations. When we arrived at the cemetary there were chairs with velvet covers. We had a priest and a bagpiper, all of which they arranged. They made sure my Dad, who had been in the service in his youth, had a flag-draped coffin. It truly was a beautiful send-off for my Dad and gave our family great comfort...

Although, we know death is inevitable, no one wants to lose a loved one. Needless to say, when my mom, a vibrant 85 year young lady, transitioned my family was devastated. However, Ryan and Ralph showed compassion beyond explanation. Ryan took the time to get to know our mom through us and walked us through preparations with skill, professionalism and kindness. This wasn’t just another job for Ryan. He became part of our family and walked along side us during the hardest time in our life. When the day came, Ryan and Ralph were there ahead of schedule and mommy looked as beautiful as always. They presented her with dignity and prestige.
