The bridge over the Hudson now that deserves five stars. It’s so beautiful, the views as you can see are amazing, it’s super high, and it’s just so peaceful and quiet. We parked at the west/ulster side since the other side was closed for paving. There’s a small “visitors center” with restrooms that are open and it looks like in season there is maybe a small little store with some snack trucks available. Parking was easy and getting there was simple enough with google maps. Now why two stars you ask. Well what’s advertised so much there on the maps is the “loop trail” which like the title loops around the town and back to the parking lot. Now even though the other side was closed we said we would get to the end and then just go back the same way. Walking the loop trail was not what we imagined it was pretty awful. We had to walk the other bridge with the cars passing, the smell of exhaust, the loudness of every car and construction. Only cool thing was there were bridge noises and buttons to press to hear the bridge music. Then walking out of the bridge there’s towels and clothes left on the side down the path more a bag of clothes and what looked like someone drying other clothes on the gate. Walking the streets did not feel family friendly at all. So definitely do not recommend with any children. It didn’t feel the safest and you had to walk by the train station and bus station just not what was expected at all. So we aborted the mission and walked back to the parking lot. Now we did notice another trail that continued into the woods and that was the absolute best! It was a concrete path so you can bring your stroller and bikes and it was very pretty! But take note it either is or turns into the Empire State trail which is 750 miles! So don’t be discouraged when you keep walking and don’t see any ending in sight! I would give that trail 5 stars and recommend it to everyone!
In the end walk the beautiful bridge but just continue on to the Empire State trail into the woods and you will enjoy every...

We had an amazing time on our day trip to Walkway Over the Hudson, This Department of Park & Recreation located just 100 miles north of New York City (about a 2-hour drive). The Hudson River flows from the Canada region to the Atlantic Ocean, passing through the New York City area. Interestingly, the river's current flows both north and south, with a strong flow in both directions.
Parking and Amenities
Upon arrival, we found convenient paid parking and EV charging stations on the property. There's also additional parking available under the bridge on Park Avenue. We opted to park on the upper level, which was more convenient for our walk.
Preparation and Safety
Before starting our walk, we made sure to take necessary precautions: sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottles, proper dressing, hats, and caps. The administrative office provided helpful information, and restrooms were available for both men and women.
The Walk
The walkway stretches 1,000 feet to the bridge, with benches and shaded areas along the way. The bridge and walkway in the are approximately 22 feet wide, accommodating day trippers, cyclists, walkers, and joggers. The views of the Hudson River are simply fantastic, with a 1.8-mile one-way or 2.6-mile two-way journey.
Nearby Attractions
After our walk, we visited the nearby Awosting Falls, & Water Reservoir just a 15-minute drive away. If you're from New York City or Long Island, you can easily complete this trip from 9 am to 8 pm.
