I haven't been to this deli in many years. I really wanted to like it. It took over 20 minutes for 3 hard roll sandwiches to be made. I went to pay and I was using my card. The cashier knew the "cash" prices, but she didn't know the "credit" prices...She called the owner over for the prices. Well, that is because the owner makes them up on the spot. As a business owner, there are fees that owners need to pay. You should have one price for items. Not one for cash and one for credit. Or, if you want to do that, have a price board up with cash and card up, so people can see the price. Customers shouldn't be guessing what the price will be.
I was charged $8.99 for an American on a roll, and $8.99 for an Italian on a roll. Well, if it was an amazing sandwich, maybeee that would be worth it. My American sandwich had 1 piece of roast beef on it, and 1 piece of turkey, 1 piece of cheese and lots of lettuce. Wow. Once the food came out a 3 year old in our party had to use the bathroom. We asked the owner, and they refused to let him use the bathroom. Really, a 3 year old can't use the bathroom? We had to run out to find a bathroom for him.
After this horrible experience at 'On a Roll Deli', a few days later we went to 'The Hard Roll Deli' and ordered the same. The same exact sandwiches were $6.99 each. $2 less, and the sandwiches were loaded with meat! Also, they let the 3 year old use the bathroom. Go to The Hard Roll Deli instead! Sad to say, we will not return to the 'On...
Read moreI've been here a few times and the food is great. They have a diverse menu, and the staff is very friendly. They have unfinished wood floors, but it adds to the charm and laid back atmosphere of the place. There is plenty of space to sit if you want to eat your food there, and the open layout is refreshing, as most delis are super cramped. Some other reviews have stated that the service is fast, but that has not been my experience. I would say they are slightly below average with speed for a deli. The regular customers seem to agree, as a large part of their business seems to be call in orders (indicating you won't get your food quickly if you order when you get there). A cashier even told me that many times during lunch hours they receive more phone orders than in person orders. Overall I will definitely be going back, and it is one of my favorite delis in Ulster County, just make sure you call in your order before you go if you are...
Read moreFirst of all, every single time I go in here (not busy ever) I get the vibe that I’m “bothering” the lady behind the counter by ordering something. Second, they Charge different prices every time I visit. First time I visited I got 2 breakfast sandwiches and a small coffee ($15). Next time I visited I got 2 breakfast sandwiches the same as last time, and an orange juice ($19). It doesn’t make sense. The lady that took my order used a calculator to make it seem like she was giving me the right price. But it just looked like she was pressing random numbers and then giving me a...
