My husband and I visited the West Madison location while we were furniture shopping in August of 2023. We found a massive sectional that we fell in love with. We decided to place the order, specifically for a color that would be in stock within 5 weeks.
Unfortunately, production on our sofa took nearly 5 months, NOT 5 weeks. As of January 3rd of 2024, we finally have a complete sectional.
Our sales rep was very personal and empathetic to the long wait time but there really was no resolution other than to just keep waiting. They did offer a small credit back since we had to wait for so long but I would have rather just had them be honest with us from the get go. We were told 5 weeks but after 6 weeks of silence we called and they apologized for the delay. Several weeks later we were able to receive two pieces, but we had to pick up otherwise the wait would have been even longer. Ultimately it took 5 months to receive all 4 pieces.
We can understand that production delays happen, but the real issue was that the first piece we received had a hole in it. Someone was sent out to repair it within 2 weeks. The final piece we received today did not line up on the track so we had to perform some surgery to fix this as we didn't want to wait any longer to have someone come and fix that too.
Pros: Slumberland Sales Reps are very kind, personable and empathetic
Their selection of furniture is so much more comfortable than many of the competitors in the area. We spent about two weeks traveling from store to store before we settled on Slumberland for our purchase.
Cons: Overall honesty with lead times when ordering were a miss. If the lead time on a product says "X weeks" it likely means "X months". I don't think they are very honest with their lead times when you discuss it with them.
They are on the pricier end when you compare them to Ashley Furniture and Bob's Furniture but overall Slumberland seemed to have a far super quality on the showroom floor. Sadly, our sofa is already sagging and the newest piece that just arrived definitely looks big and fluffy while the rest of the sofa looks sad and there is already pilling.
When you have no choice but to piece your sectional together over several months due to delays in production it means that not all items will line up or match fully when they finally all come together.
I do not recommend Slumberland to anyone looking to fill a space immediately unless you choose something that's readily available and in stock. They do have amazing clearance deals in the back that is worth checking out. My number one concern is lead...
Read moreI purchased a couch on July 9, 2020. When I purchased the couch, they informed me it would take 5-6 weeks to deliver (so no later than August 20, 2020).
After 6 weeks, I heard nothing from the company, so I called to get a status. They told me that it had been delayed and would arrive in the first week of October. In other words, an additional 6 weeks AFTER the original delivery date.
They didn't make the first week of October estimate that they gave me either. When I called again, they informed me that my couch would be delivered on October 8.
They did not give me an estimated time for when it would be delivered or even a window of time that I could expect it. They were just going to text me when they were on their way and I would have to stop everything and receive them.
They also said they would not bring the couch to my apartment and that they'd just leave it outside and I would be responsible for getting it into my apartment.
I called them on October 8 to get a status on the delivery and they told me that they hadn't put it in the computer and I would have to wait another WEEK for it to be delivered. They told me that they would bring it into the apartment rather than leaving it outside.
So now it has been 14 weeks to have a couch delivered that I was told would only take 5-6 weeks. They had no problems charging my credit card and taking my money immediately when I purchased the couch.
When the couch finally arrived, the moving person refused to bring it inside. I had to actually call Slumberland and talk to the person there before they would bring the couch inside my apartment.
This entire process has been miserable and Slumberland never once apologized or tried to reconcile their mistakes with the delivery.
I will NEVER purchase a piece of furniture from this company again. I hope that anyone reading this review thinks twice about giving their business to a company that doesn't value customers, doesn't keep their commitments, and doesn't even meet the basic expectations of a...
Read moreThis has been our go to place for furniture the the last 15+ years, but not anymore. Prices are getting too high and the delivery charge of $150 PLUS $30 to take away an old mattress is ridiculous. We did opt for the zero cost delivery for them to leave it by our garage. Which they did. However, it was the last salesman I dealt with, that decided I’d no longer shop there. I went in a few days ago to pay off the mattress we had on layaway and to set a delivery date. He was condescending, talked very loud and told me that the delivery time was from 8am to 6pm. I asked if they could give me a call when nearby, and he said no. I had to look for them all day. Really!? This salesman just had an attitude of not caring…guess my one item wasn’t worth his time! The original salesman who I bought it from, was much kinder and not condescending at all - Billy. And that rude salesman was wrong - I didn’t have to wait around all day as I got a couple texts from the delivery people - the day before, they sent me a 2 hour time slot when it would be delivered. Then the day of delivery, they sent me a link to see how...
