My son's and I like exploring different cultural foods. We don't always know how to order but we try and do need some help by the staff. It's important to me to teach my son's to appreciate and respect all cultural foods. Just like it's important to me to teach them to walk away from a bad situation and not support it. The old location had great employees and that was last summer. This is why we decided to stop in their new location next to the Cat Vet on Monday @3:10 we noticed right away that there was No pictures of their foods/snacks treats with No pricing. I ask the girl working there if she had a menu. We wanted to try something different but we didn't know what was available to order. She completely ignored me and took 2 different Spanish speaking customers order that walked in last when we were standing in front of the desk a sign above us that says " Order Here". If she didn't discriminate us it sure felt like it. Finally same girl ask what we wanted I asked if they can cut up the fruit because the once that were in the fridge looked old not appealing and had cucumbers inwhich I don't like. At the old location they would cut the fruit to what the customer choice is otherwise I wouldn't of asked. Infact in every other places do cut your fresh fruit to your favorite fruits available. She said No but then another girl walked up and asked if I needed help I asked the same question but the short girl told her to say "Tell her No so she can leave" in Spanish. We don't speak Spanish and my kid's don't understand any other languages but English, but I can understand a little and 3 other languages. We simply walked away with such disappointment and felt mortified. We did discovered a great place with great customer service...
Read moreHoly frozen cow milk! Went here at random because was the closest ice cream shop to the gym. But honestly, already has taken the top spot on my list of Madison ice cream establishments. GGs to all the other West side creameries. I got a double scoop because the flavors were so interesting and I wanted multiple. Coconut and pistachio, if you were wondering. Both had chunks of the actual nut in them - a sure sign on quality (jk I'm not a connoisseur but I found it extremely tasty). Anyway, this thing was Huuuuuge! Original plan of eating it on the way home thrown out the window. So bring something to clean your hands afterwards (or ask for napkins) at least if you get a double scoop in a cone. Or bring a friend to drive you home but get a dish. They actually did give me a dish too in case of falling - My arms must've looked shaky after lift, but still a very considerate gesture. Also I didn't eat dinner before going so totally ruined that but worth....
Read moreDelicious mexican style ice cream. Growing up in California we had many places like this and moving to Madison I was extremely excited to see this place and enjoy coming here regularly.
I think the few people that have given bad reviews don't understand that the point of this ice cream shop isn't for it to be modern and large, but rather a place to pick up delicious treats, authentically made. The treats this place has to offer speaks for itself. Most negative reviews target the style of the place and the staff, which we need to remember there can be language barriers there so don't be quick to write something negative. And if you read the abundant positive reviews, you see the ice cream is delicious and all other snacks, which speaks for itself.
Also, give some things a chance, like the mangoneada, the fresas con crema, chongos ice cream, queso ice cream, so many things are good here you just have...
