Rude staff, products on the cusp of expiration. Iām not feeling well, so I went to get things for soup, and to grab a gallon of milk. I had to dig to find milk the doesnāt expire within the week. Iām shaking at this point, and just want out of there quickly. The cashier was rude. No greeting, scoffed and exchanged glances with some older yup behind me in line. Quickly unlocked my debit card to pay. She asked, very quietly, if I had a phone number. I replied with āIām sorry?ā So she rolled her eyes, scoffed again, then giggled like a television style mean girl, and repeated the question. I assumed she meant for some sort of loyalty things, and said no. She rolled her eyes again and said āohhhkayyyā I scan my card, put in my pin. She just stares at me. Iām shaking so much Iām having trouble getting my card into my wallet. She rudely says āuh, you have to approve the purchaseā I scramble to hit yes on the keypad. The woman behind me is laughing and theyāre both shaking their heads. I say āIm sorry. Thank you, have a nice dayā and dip. As soon as itās the womanās turn behind me, itās all smiles and greetings. They proceed to discuss me as I make my way out. I thought I was shopping, not going back to seventh grade. I recommend making the drive to a bigger town, where products are fresh, and there isnāt the uncomfortable podunk false superiority atmosphere. I avoided going here because I havenāt heard good things. This...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf its top dollar you want to pay for everyday items, Freshtown is for you. Why pay 99 cents for a gallon of Poland Springs when you can get the same item for 1.49 at Freshtown? The last time I voiced on about the 15-30% higher prices a few folks actually commented that I didn't appreciate the fact that they (Freshtown) were actually saving me money due to the fact that they were so much closer then Delhi and Oneonta. So now I'm thinking possibly the Freshtown mgt is of the same mind set. I do see very local folks with their own carts walking to Freshtown and I'm assuming they live within walking distance. Too bad they don't have the option of driving to Delhi's Price Chopper. Also those green stamps???? Give me better sales and keep your green stamps. I have never ever saw prices as high as Freshtown. What a disappointment to a community that is cash strapped to begin...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile I'm very happy they're here, the prices are way too high, so much so it often makes me choose to drive 30min further or in a different direction if I have to do a big shopping. That and at times the "fresh" products they have usually have a 2-3 day shorter shelf life then from other locations of the same chain/owner.
That said, it's a full service grocer in he heart of the Catskills, so I do have to love them for that. A LARGE beer selection and very good but sometimes limited selection for other things like a million upscale pasta sauce choices but few if any of their less expensive Foodtown brand products.
I do love that they do sometimes have local produce available, the products that aren't local...
