On the bright side, the rooms were clean and majority of the employees were friendly and professional.
My issue is with the manager, Kelsey. She and her staff overcharged us for one of our nights, claiming that we never reserved 2 nights. Yet, we were in town for a TWO night wedding, that came with a wedding block discount. We made a two-night reservation to be in town for the rehearsal dinner.
Upon arrival the first night, the hosts seemed puzzled when we told them our name to check in on Friday. Well, the reason they were puzzled is because they never reserved a room for us for that night. That’s fine, people make mistakes. We all do. But the problem is they never communicated to us that we didn’t have a reservation. Instead they charged us an additional fee since they didn’t know we were in the wedding party. Even though we would receive the discount for the 2nd night.
When we checked out, they used the card on file. When we arrived home, we noticed the issue. We communicated the issue to Kelsey. Her response was that it’s on us to check our reservation in advance. Kelsey didn’t accept responsibility for her employee’s mistake. It was on us, as the customer to check. Not on her employee who answered the phone and read it back to us on the phone.
When clarifying with Kelsey that we didn’t want a comped free night stay, only to receive a refund for the additional charge, her response was, “I won’t.” And ,”there’s nothing I can do.”
Now, I hope upper management reads this. In the business world, it’s smart to not only create customers, but loyal customers. If you make a mistake and do wrong by the customer, it’s common sense to acknowledge and rectify the mistake so that you earn a returning/loyal customer. All they had to do was communicate to us upon checking in that they didn’t have a room reserved that night. The employees went along as if we did and we were under the impression that we did have a reservation. Then they charged us as if we didn’t have a reservation. Then Kelsey stuck up for them and shifted the blame on us as...
Read moreThis is the perfect hotel to stay at, weather if its for business, leisure.....especially for Cooperstown All Star Village Baseball. Our visit was for 6 days. It took 10 minutes to get to All Star. Very convenient especially when the times of game are scattered. This truly is a beautiful hotel! It's 4 years old. Very clean and well maintained. Beautiful lobby where you can sit and relax on one side with soft seating and Large Flat Screen TV or sit at a long bar top table to do work or have a drink. Surrounding with other table seating to eat. Its all an open concept, which I love. Great workout room. They have an indoor pool that is on the smaller side and nice hot tub. A great outdoor seating area with a fire pit.
Check-in was easy. Everyone super friendly and attentive to your needs. Location was great - not thinking that there was much around - you had a BJ's, Walmart, Wendy's, Buffalo Wild Wings, McDonalds, Aldi, Hannaford's Food Store, Panera Bread, Frozen Yogurt Place, TJ MAX, Dick's Sporting Goods, JcPenny and much more not far away. Easy access to Route 88 .... Not far, was a place to eat called Undercover Eggplant - delicious! Sandwiches, salads, Pizza., Yellow Deli was good to for sandwiches. Probably about a 35/40 min. ride to Cooperstown itself. Cooperstown was a quaint style town with some great little stores and places to eat and of course the "Baseball Hall of Fame" - If you are with a team you can request a private tour and they have someone speak to you about how it became the...
I really liked this hotel. The location was perfect for a college visit, it’s close to a few restaurants and grocery stores, and it’s a newer hotel. |Unfortunately, I had no choice but to rate it as just average. When they checked us in, they gave us a handicapped accessible room. I’m not sure why—the hotel wasn’t sold out, and clearly we did not request, or need an accessible room. The shower was difficult, at best. It consisted of a hand held shower head that didn’t work. I wanted to call the front desk and make a complaint, but it was late and I was standing in a shower that didn’t operate properly. My other complaint is the noise. Someone was slamming doors, stomping hard and just being plain loud and insensitive towards other guests. |The front desk clerks were pleasant and gave us toothpaste samples because we forgot some personal items, and the Bistro looked like it had decent/inexpensive food, but it wasn’t open. |The location is also a little odd, but it seemed all the hotels on this street were the same. They did farther back, behind the restaurants and you really have to pay attention to where you need to turn. ||I would probably stay here again, but I would recommend checking to make sure you have a working shower, and apparently I would make it clear you’re not in need of a handicapped accessible room, because it seems they must put guests in one unless...
