When your out of town, in the mood for Mexican, web search for the best Mexican restaurants in an area, and Azul is the only one that comes up or is nearby, you go to Azul and have a very pleasant surprise. Located in the local mall, this isn't a food court restaurant offering food court quality. You enter into a genuine small, casual, Mexican restaurant that provides fresh to order quality meals. My son ordered the Volcano dish that offers a variety of meats and seafood with a delectable sauce served in a cast iron cauldren. His fiance chose the chicken fajitas (called something else on the menu) and our jaws dropped when we saw the amount of delicious chicken topping a hearty portion of peppers and onions. My husband and I ordered vegetarian enchiladas. Honestly, they were more like a vegetarian taco, resting on its side, with a flavorful topping than the traditional manicotti style dish we've come to know, but every bite was delicious. As full as we all were, we also shared a slice of their Tres Lecche cake. It was a little unique to us in that it contained fruit, but that fruit was a delightful addition. The food was so enjoyable that my family wanted to return the following night for dinner to either try another dish seen on the menu or try one of the impressive dishes one of us had been served. We left planning to make that return the following night, but had been too late returning from Cooperstown to do so. However, it's on our list to do so when next we visit our son and his fiance. All in all we had a very enjoyable dining experience at Azul. We were well taken care of by the friendly staff and we intend to...
Read moreWe are in the area fairly often so figured we would try this new Mexican restaurant out. The gentleman brought us out water which was nice. They originally had our order wrong as I ordered a quesadilla but somehow got a burrito. After I got mine I asked for some hot sauce and the lady said they use a locally sourced one, and it’s hot. Man was it hot! It was very hot so use it in moderation but I loved the flavor. My fiancée was very happy with her sopes as well. Then we got dessert. They were very large pieces and were very good. Good place but just a bit odd when it comes to service. We never got offered refills and if you get Coke or something like that they give you a can and a glass. Also, literally EVERY single Mexican restaurant we have ever been to gives you chips and salsa. I would advise losing the fluorescent lights as they kill the mood and go with can lights or string lights. They seemed to only have one bathroom but people were just using the employee bathroom. They are fairly new so maybe working out the kinks but the food was excellent. Great potential with some...
Read moreThe chef ought to be mortified for what passes as cuisine in this establishment . For twenty dollars I purchased what ranks as the foulest ingestion of my life—flavorless, malodorous, and indistinguishable from the refuse bin it briefly escaped.
When I raised the obvious complaint, ownership’s sole response was the surgical deletion of negative feedback—no apology, no restitution, only censorship disguised as hospitality.
I have dined with more satisfaction at a chain burrito counter; at least there the salt functions and the salsa has a pulse. Staff alternated between English and Spanish in conspiratorial whispers, treating patrons like eavesdroppers rather than paying clientele.
Meanwhile, the walls parade every banner except the Stars and Stripes—a silent manifesto of allegiance that invites the obvious suggestion: follow the flags you so loudly celebrate, and spare the American customer...
