I’m so torn on how to rate this place. I moved to Long Island earlier this year and the amount of nail salons to choose from is endless. I haven’t found a place or person that I’ve been 100% happy with like I was back in my old town. I went for SNS & a pedicure. I already had SNS on, so clearly a person would think that the top layer would be buffed off and the nails wrapped in foil while I get my feet done. The tech told me she was going to do my hands first. She basically buffed off the entire SNS with the electric machine and continued to buff into my natural nail. My nails are so weak to begin with, I asked her to please stop. She tells me she’s only cleaning up and continues. She may have wrapped my nails in foil for about 45 seconds before removing it and returning back to using the electric buffer. I’ll be honest, that’s roughly when my mood was starting to flip. I wanted to match my hands and feet so I asked my tech what she would recommend based off the nail polish I chose for my feet. She just repeated the same thing “pick a color”. The reason I’m torn is because my nails came out looking good. The SNS is nice and thin and she did it without me even asking her. It’s really the machine being used on my natural nails and lack of time for allowing the acetone to soak off the SNS layers that I’m deducting the 2 stars for. I know if I continue with this nail salon, my nails will only get weaker and further shredded. Pedicure was done by a different tech and he did a great job as well. Sadly my hands and feet don’t match like I wanted them to, but that’s expected when the tech didn’t help at all to even attempt to match...
Read moreI will NEVER go here again and I would NEVER recommend anyone to go here. I came here for a few manicures and and two pedicures. My first pedicure I was having gel polish removed and the girl ended up cutting 3 cuticles on one foot and 2 on the other with the drill machine while trying to get the polish off. I've always soaked off gel at other salons. My second time getting the gel pedicure, I requested a soak off to which the girl sighed as if she was annoyed, put the cotton on and then immediately took it off and drilled off the rest anyway. I should have been more insistent about the soak off but I let her drill it anyway. She ended up hitting the cuticle on my left big toe and damaging both the nail and cuticle. This was in December. I've had two doctors appointments with a podiatrist and went to a specialist for a no-polish pedicure and they both confirmed she did major damage to my toe. I was in pain for weeks after the pedicure where I could barely put socks and shoes on. It was right before my wedding and here we are in June, 6 months later and it's still majorly damaged. I probably have at least a year until it grows out and the nail will probably fall off. I don't trust that they are actually legally licensed, especially after speaking with the specialist. They don't care about their clientele, they have a very poor attitude towards clients, and they don't properly handle cleanliness and safety in their salon. Beware of...
Read moreI’ve been going to Laura at Prime Nails for years and have always supported her, even recommending friends and family who became regulars. But at my recent visit, I left feeling unheard as a customer. I felt pressure to get extensions on all nails, but compromised on just my thumb because the edge had a little breakage, even though I specifically said I didn’t want extensions, so I gave in — as I have with other things in the past. The result looked noticeably different from my other thumb (so thick and wide), yet she insisted it was due to my nail bed. When she eventually removed the extension, both thumbs looked the same. I know this was not an issue with my nails, but rather the application even though she would not back down. She also burned me multiple times during the appointment, and despite me expressing the pain I was in, there was no reaction or apology — as if I was expected to just tolerate it. After all this time, it’s disappointing to leave unhappy with both the experience and...
