The hot shoe of my Canon EOS R5 camera became loose during a session some months ago. I put glue on it just so I can finish the session. I was able to finish the session but by the time I was packing up, the hot shoe had fallen off completely. It’s a somewhat common issue happening with all the Canon EOS R series cameras, but Canon hasn’t yet acknowledge the issue is their own design’s fault. I was holding off on sending in the R5 and hoping Canon would announce a recall so that I could get it repaired for free, since I have another camera body I could use during the slower months.
So with the busy fall season here, I thought I better get the R5 repaired. I knew I could send it to Canon as I am a Canon CPS member, but I wanted it back quickly. So I Googled for a repair service and found this listing. I contacted the number, and within minutes, Mordicai responded and even offered a closer address than the storefront to drop off my R5. The next day, I dropped off my R5, and 3 days after that, got a text that it was ready for pickup. I’ve been using the R5 every day for a week now, and the hot shoe seems like it’s sturdier than even when it was new. Can’t be any happier with Mordicai’s workmanship.
If I ever need local camera repair or maintenance service again, I will definitely bring my gear to Mordicai without any hesitation in the future.

Read moreStores like this are impossible to find on Long Island -- an old-fashioned service establishment where work is done on the premises by a skilled repairman. I give Westbury Camera the highest marks and a big hooray. I had a malfunctioning Panasonic hard drive camcorder, and this was the only store still repairing cameras outside of Manhattan. I brought my camera in, was treated with great human friendliness by Mordechai, who called me back a few days later to report that the problem was fixable (he explained it clearly) and for less than a fifth of what a replacement camera would cost. He did the work quickly, and at the price he told me. In a world where brick-and-mortar stores are quickly vanishing, and personal service is often merely a sweet memory, Westbury Camera is a thriving reminder of the way things used to be. Other stores are more dazzling to the eye; other stores have employees (uninformed) in matching blue shirts, but this one is the real thing. Long may they prosper! P.S. I came back a week later to ask a question: Mordechai couldn't have been more informative, more helpful, more polite. It's my new...
Read moreMy experience working with Mordicai was fantastic! I cannot recommend his services enough, especially if you’re in a pinch. My boyfriend is located in New Jersey and needed his lens fixed. He couldn’t find anyone in NJ that would touch the lens given the damage, and the only place we could find in Manhattan that agreed to repair it weren’t very responsive and wouldn’t have it done for another month. We found Mordicai’s store online on a Thursday night and by Monday I was able to drop off the lens with him. He really worked with our schedules and kept us in the loop on the status as he worked on the lens. Initially he explained it would take about 2-4 weeks to receive the part that he needed to repair the lens, but after explaining we needed it done within 2 weeks, Mordicai repaired it in three days without an additional charge. Upon pickup he ran some test shots so that we could see everything was back in order. Some of the best customer service I have ever received, and Mordicai truly knows what he’s doing. I...
