Sugar Bae Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Oyster Bay

Been going here ever since it opened and in the beginning it was great. But its been going downhill ever since. On one occasion the cashier forgot about my coffee and was extremely rude about it. She basically blamed me even though she said she remembered me ordering it and said “well I didn’t charge you for it so what’s the problem?” I said the problem is i had to wait in line again order and get rung up again and the fact that I wanted a coffee and you forgot to ring me up for it. Now I have to wait 30 minutes more for my coffee because you didn’t ring me up for it. Service is extremely slow. I decided not to return here again but my daughter really wanted to go and I said ok I’ll give it a second chance. Just went there tonight and my daughter ordered a cheesecake. The cheesecake was extremely stale and even the strawberry on top was rotten. I saw the girl plate it and the strawberry fell off and she just plopped it right back on. Didn’t want to complain about it cause I knew I was going to get a snarky remark, not worth the aggravation. My daughter and I tried to eat it even trying to take the outer layers off and just eat the inside but that didn’t work either. Don’t think I will be returning here again. My daughter loved this place but today did it for her too and she asked never to return here again.

I had heard of this dessert spot previously but not had the opportunity to go until late last year. The location is a busy shopping center along Old Country Road in HIcksville.

When it comes to anything dessert, my sweet tooth has a mind of its own and I am a slave to its cravings.

The place itself has a decor that could be characterized as cute with plenty of seating and the staff that assisted me that day was very friendly. Props to the young lady V who was one of the employees there that day.

I decided on their signature crepe, the Sugar Bae. It consist of nutella, fresh strawberry, banana and walnuts. I would most certainly recommend sharing this one as it can be a lot for one person. The nutella and banana combo is quite popular and very tasty,

For a secondary dessert I was perusing their display case and the belgian chocolate mini cake caught my eye. I do not know if they usually have that in stock but you can always ask the helpful staff any questions.

Everything was prepared in a timely manner I felt. I know that in a lot of businesses that there may be a shortage of workers and it seemed to get a busier as I was dining in that night. But even the pick up orders were all prepared in good time as well.

This is a great place to bring your friends, family or date if you are in the area. I definitely need to go back to try the bubble waffle desserts which are usually not too prevalent on...

I’ve been three times, and since this is a new place by my home, hair salon and nail salon - I figured I would give it a try. The first time I was in love the aesthetic first, but of course being that they just opened the staff wasn’t sure about some things, but no judgement. There wasn’t much selection at all in the bakery fridge, and things I wanted the staff had to ask the chef in the back questions in them. I asked if one item had peanut butter and was told no. I said are you sure because that looks like dark chocolate and peanut butter? She said I don’t think - so I asked her to confirm Because I mean that’s something to know…the chef came out and said it did. I ended up just getting some croissants, and some ice cream. I came back a month or so later and it was pretty packed, I ordered a crepe….I do not want to bash this business but it was disgusting. The staff is clearly inexperienced in making crepes, the crepe looked NOTHING like these crepes online from these photos. It was flat and dry and just overly gross. I figured it was busy so I would try again. The last time I went, last week, I ordered a signature crepe because maybe that would be easier and guaranteed a hit! But that was definitely not the case. I’m going to wait a few more months to see if this was just a case of new business blues. Hopefully this is the case because this place is...
