Poughkeepsie Galleria — Attraction in Town of Poughkeepsie

I Have Been Attending The Poughkeepsie Galleria For Over A Decade Now. I Have Many Fond Memories With This Place But Will Not Let It Affect My Review.. I Dont Have Much To Complain About.. However, I Have A Few Criticisms. The Food Court Needs Work. Right Now The Current Food Court Tenants Are As Follows. Mr. Smoothie, The Scotch Bonnet, Taco Bell, China Max, Bourbon Street Grill, Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs, Wendys, Sicilian Delight Pizzeria, New York Deli, Little Tokyo And The Crafted Cup.. All Of These Places Serve Decent Food No Doubt.. However, Three Of The Locations Are Chinese Food.. 2 Of Them Even Being Right Next To Each Other..That I Think Is Poor.. There Should Only Be 1 Maybe 2 Chinese Locations.. But 3 Is Definitely Excessive.. Now Lets Move On To The Downstairs Portion Of The Mall.. It Is Mostly Dominated By Small Local And Also Franchised Clothing And Beauty Shops.. This To Me Is Overkill.. I Know Younger Folks.. Like To Find Small Clothing Shops And Often Shop There.. My Sister In Particular Shops At A Shop Called Charlotte Rouse.. Thats Fine And All, But If You Dig Deeper Into The Rest Of Them.. You Will Find Its Just A Flood Of The Same Stores. All Bunched Together And The Only Difference Between Them All Is Designer Handbags And Different Logos.. More Variety Is Much Needed.. Now Lets Move On To Some Pluses.. I Think The Anchor Model Is Phenomenal.. Targer, Best Buy, JCPenney, Sears, Dicks Sportning Goods, DSW, Regal Cinemas And Macys Are Such A Diverse Lineup Of Places To Shop.. And Passing By The Mall On Route 9.. The Logos Of The Anchor Stores Slapped Right On The Malls Exterior Serves A Such Eye Candy To Passing Travelers.. Now Lets Move On To The Malls Environment/ Atmosphere. In The Past 5 Years, The Mall Recently Renovated From A More Mod, Olive Green, Pinks, Red And Blues Coupled With A Lot Of Real/ Artificial Indoor Greenery To A More Sleek, Shiny Almost Marble Look To It.. Mostly White, With Some Cream And Light Greys Thrown In There For Slight Contrast.. But Mosly Simple But Effective Design.. I Think Personally, The Mall Would Benifit From Some Neon Lights.. Maybe Put Some Light Blue Neon Or Even Just Regular Blue Thrown In There To Accompanie The New Look.. I Think A Little Bit More Color Wouldnt Hurt.. I Think The New Modern Look Is Ok.. But I Think They Overkilled The Whites.. Overall This Mall Is A Great Place To Shop And Also A Great Place To Converge For Social Time.. I Give This Mall A Solid 4/5.. I Reccomend It To Traveling Visitors And Friendly Locals.. Have A Nice Day And Thank You...

Poughkeepsie Galleria has maintained itself over the yrs. Unless you go to Albany Malls or Paramus Malls. This is probably the bigger of the local malls. However, I cant really comment for the rest of Rt 9/ South Rd stores/ strip malls. Its a big pain and usually difficult to pull in and out of all the stores that are dotted along the Rt. 9 shopping corridor. My suggestion would be to goggle what stores you are looking for or what you are looking to purchase and map out a plan. Because it could get very frustrating to go to Galleria only to find that TJMax and Home Goods store moved across from their old sites to across the street by Marshalls ALL THE WAY BACK 9 miles closer to the Poughkeepsie bridge. My original post was not about Poughkeepsie galleria, but rather South Hill Malls. South Hills is the mall thats a shadow of its former self. I havent been there in a couple months but that mall has basically turned into a ghost town. Ill make an extra trip to check it out before the holidays and see if there has been any revitalization happening. So unless you need to go to what were one of the few remaining stores, I dont bother. Plus there was an afforable movie theater behind all of it that has closed so its not like you go to the movies but hang out in the mall before the movie starts. I happen to like the larger mall in Albany, ny and the palisade mall but I dont do big shopping much to take the trip unless im going...

I want to write a brand new, updated review. At the times when I am in the Mall it is sad to be there in many ways. There are stores that used to be there such as CBX, Waldenbooks, Kirklands, Sears, Penneys, etc. That are no longer there. There are not enough stores selling movies, video games, books etc. because Best Buy (The company), and Target have decided to barely to not really have movies anymore. More people are buying physical media again too so The Mall needs to return to a hot spot for physical media, and other kinds of shopping. Also I would not be suprised if right now in May it feels like it is 90 degrees in there. They have an issue with the heat where they have it on too warm when it's not nesscary. I do like how Fye is back in The Mall even though no Fye store is the way it was. I do enjoy New York Deli as well. The Mall seems to be focusing more on arcades and other entertainment a little much more then nice stores to go to, it definitely should be even. This Mall has to go back to the way it was so it's geared for all ages again, not just teenagers which I tend to see there a lot in the past. I am in my late 20s I am not a teenager so more people of all ages should be able to go again to The Poughkeepsie Galleria and...
