Comet — Attraction in Town of Queensbury

This might be one of the best wooden roller coasters out there! Six Flags Great Escape is a fantastic theme park but their ride lineup is not one of their strengths. This however is an incredible signature ride and I would imagine it staying that way when bobcat opens. It also does not have terrible wait times for how good of a ride it is. This is even considering that we visited on a fright fest weekend. This ride has incredible airtime, mostly floater with the exception of one hill. There is one toward the end of the ride that ejects you upward and to the side in one of the most aggressive ways I have seen. There may have been several fantastic wooden roller coasters that have been built since this one opened but this is still incredible in its own right. Old fashion rollercoaster. The track is made out of wood. The line is divided up into the front and back so if you have a preference you're able to decide where you want to sit. I felt safe while riding, the lap bar was tightly in place preventing me from falling during the ride. This ride goes fast and has lots of turns and inclined and drops. It's kinda. Bumpy ride though and it can give you a headache. At the end it stops hard and if you aren't expecting it can be painful. This is an amazing coaster that is a must do if you're visiting Six Flags Great Escape. Comet is a classic woodie built by Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters. The structure was reused from the infamous Cyclone at Crystal Beach, one of the most intense wooden coasters ever built. It's been holding up good for its age, and this thing gives a lot of airtime, too. Beautiful location in the back of the park with some great views, and you usually dont have to wait more than 15 minutes due to its location deep in the back of the park.
