This was the worst shopping experience I've had this year (maybe ever), even for a big box store. I was picking up cat litter for my dad who will only reimburse me for the price he paid (though not gas or travel time). Whatever, with nothing to do, I wantes to take a drive so off I went. This is a new store and it's huge by New York standards though people in the rest of the country would think it's normal. I walk in and my first impression was that it looks like the Good Will version of a warehouse store with new, crooked signage. Really? Concrete floors? They built this new store and decided to save money by not putting flooring down. Apparently Walmart customers will keep shopping even after their feet start to hurt. The poor workers, who were all working hard stocking shelves. No one asked if I needed help, and after working in retail for 20 years I usually don't but because of the terrible signage and a truly retarded layout (who decided to put the groceries in the middle??? Someone who never buys anything frozen apparently), I actually needed to know where the pet section was. I found it by chance, in the corner right past the makeup, first aid and cleaning sections (huh?). I had picked up some toothpaste and a big bag of baking soda so I had seen how badly the aisles were straightened (somebody had tried, bless their heart) but the pet food/litter was just awful. It was a mess, full of empty spots and for such a huge store I couldnt believe how bad a selection they had, even worse than the supermarket. Well I looked and looked and they didn't have it, I couldn't even find a shelf tag for it. GRRR So I went to go pay for the other things, which took almost as long as shopping. Except there are was a crying kid about 3 or 4 who was wailing at the top of his lungs and wouldn't stop the whole time. He wasnt hurt or in trouble, he was just frustrated, overtired and wanted to leave. I sympathized. So then I left and went up the street to get the litter at Petco, twice the weight for the same price (they match Internet pricing). As I was driving home I thought to myself this is why I shop at Target when I go to a big box. I like how the store looks, I always get asked for help multiple times, the Target brand stuff is so oooo cheap but similar quality to name brand and the prices overall are better. The 2 things I got at Walmart cost more and the experience was awful. What a rip-off. Lesson: LEARNED.
Full Disclosure: I never shop at Walmart because they single-handedly destroyed mom & pop stores and employees rights with their 'low prices' which sucked money & job security out of local communities that didn't survive. And because their selling point is only price, all the staff does is stock shelves and recites the script when you check out. People don't expect any real help from staff or even to see the same people when they visit a store. Which is why brick & mortar retail is a dying industry: either the customers have to do all the work of wasting time & energy driving, shopping, and returning home or go just go on the Internet which acts like a personal shopper with better pricing that delivers. Plus you save money on all the impulse items you would have bought. And that's what...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalmart has a lot of products you need, unfortunately many of those items are made in China. I donāt like to buy anything from China. Those items should be made herein the USA. Ok the store in Riverhead is HUGE. I have difficulty walking so I like to use the scooters. Each and every time I went to this store, either the scooters they have, they had like 4 or less, are being used or they are all piled up at the front door unplugged and not charged. Why would you even offer them if you have such poor management of these much needed scooters? The self-checkout is so cramped itās hard to get in and checkout. It seems they are making more of a chaotic crowded area than their lines. Their lines at certain times, can be outrageously long. They sometimes wind themselves down an aisle or clog the main walking aisle, causing a feeling of frustration and wanting to just leave. Which I have done on several occasions. Get some cashiers and make the process easy and desirable to shop there. There used to be a couple of cashiers in the Garden Area. Sometimes that helped alleviate those long check out lines up front, but sadly they are no longer offering checkout there. What a pity. I cannot get any floor help anymore. If I do manage to snag someone, they look annoyed, and 1 few told me they were in their lunch breaks. I donāt want to bother anyone on their lunch break but where is any help to direct or answer a question??? Non existent. I donāt even go to their garden center anymore, because that is a ghost town, and if you need help with soil bags or plants or assistance with plants, forget about it. Itās just easier to either go somewhere else down the road. Walmart should care about the reviews, and make the changes they need to, to get the customers back I. The store. If they donāt care, weāll the store can always rely on online shopping, and maybe thatās where this store should aim their sights. At least we wonāt need their outdated, uncomfortable, nowhere to be found scooters, and we can look up in formation online rather than try to find someone to help that are not on their Lunch break....
Ā Ā Ā Read morei shop in the store using scan and go frequently. today i had a group of employees have a loud audible conversation about how i walked into the store with someone else, left and i came back in to buy extra food. as iām passing by theyāre still loudly talking about me as if iām not there, which made my anxiety go through the roof.
when i finally get to self check out to buy my items, the woman in self check out is now counting the items in my cart as iām trying to pay via walmart pay, which has NEVER happened to me before, especially because i was JUST in the store not even 5 minutes prior. and yes, i know if you spend a certain amount they have to use upstart to scan items before i go. this was not the case. she was literally looking in my cart and audibly counting the items i had in my cart. only to me and no one else in self scan. the woman at the door did the same thing on my way out.
iāll be taking a break from shopping at this specific store. i already have anxiety shopping in stores which is why i use the scan and go option to begin with. itās easy, quick and in and out. but unfortunately i guess iāll be going out of my way to go to another walmart from now on. iād rather not experience what i felt in...
