I have been a student of Liverpool Art Center since 2018. When I joined I had not created any art since high school. I had always wanted to return to exploring my artistic side, I just didn't know where to start!
When you first come the teachers will spend a couple class days assessing where you are in your development as an artist and where your interests lie. From there they will be very supportive in suggesting projects for you to work on that develop your skills and lead to the creation of art you can hang on your walls (or gift to friends!) The balance is to "stretch" yourself in your techniques while not stepping too far outside of your comfort zone. After just a few weeks you will see a lot of growth in your artistic creations. The teachers and your fellow students will be there to support you along the way, providing tips and guidance, and helping you to find your own unique artistic style. You will be not only joining an art class but also a community: we like to chat during the class, occasionally trade art with one another, and there are annual events where we come together to showcase our work. This year Sandi has been putting together a lot of instructional art videos and during normal years (when we're not in lockdown) there are also extracurricular events for art & communal forms of relaxation (like circle drumming).
All in all, my time at LAC has given me the space and resources I needed to grow into an artist. For that I cannot thank...
Read moreI've been a student for the last 8 years, mostly focussed on painting. I cannot even begin to fully express what LAC means to me. It's a very special place. Liverpooll Art Center is more than an art class--it's a community. Sandi and her staff are brilliant at nurturing the creativity in every person who walks through the door. I love that I get to work at my own pace and have the support to keep moving forward, making progress each week. Sandi's encouragement and teachings have helped me take my painting skills to the next level. She even got me to embrace drawing! Coming to class each week feeds my soul. I use to tell people that it's a place to come and lose yourself/forget about your stresses, but its more appropriate to say that LAC is a place to come and be more yourself. There are days when I've had a tough day at work and just feel like going home, but I know I'll feel better after going to class--and...
Read moreLiverpool Art Center is what I call my place of Zen. Sandi has always been such an incredible teacher and inspiration to all that come in contact with her because of the way she makes you feel. You don’t have to know a thing about art to feel comfortable and fit right in when you enter the studio. My art skills have definitely increased because I always have the opportunity to try new mediums and get professional and friendly structured guidance. Sandi’s newest teacher Jillian is the epitome of patience and kindness and also makes it such a comfortable working creative environment. I have been a student at LAC for over 6 years and I can’t see myself anyplace else. They also have a wonderful teen program that is...
