Do not come here for your alterations.
I bought my dress on David’s website because when I came in to try on dresses it was not a great experience. There were no available appointments for MONTHS online and I felt very unwelcomed. I was given a room to try stuff on alone and did my thing but couldn’t find a dress I liked.
I bought my dress on their website and made an appointment to have it altered. First, my appointment was rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances, that’s fine I understand. I went to my first appointment and they were going to take my straps in because they were falling off my shoulder and add a modesty piece. When I went to try the dress on after alterations, the modesty piece looked terrible, and the right shoulder strap kept falling down as if nothing was done. My second appointment for pick up the modesty piece was adjusted however, I still was not happy with it and the shoulder strap still didn’t feel any different. At this appointment, they told me they would make it right and that it would be done first thing Saturday morning and somebody would call me when it was done and I did not need to make an appointment. Nobody called me when it was done. I had to call myself and ask if it was ready. They told me there was no note that somebody had to call me and that it was ready…great customer service seeing what I already went through. I came in about a week later to pick up the dress for the THIRD TIME and when I tried it on the strap still was not fixed. I had to hold back tears, I was so so upset I almost cried in the store. My wedding is two months away and they had the two previous months to fix it and couldn’t. I could no longer risk leaving it in their hands. I took my dress home because clearly they were unable to do something very simple and I asked for a refund of the strap getting fixed. I want to acknowledge that the staff was not rude or mean and did try to take care of me, but ultimately whoever does the alterations really struggles. I took it to someplace else and it was fixed the right way the first time, as well as modesty completely replaced with a better fit and matching color. The seamstress couldn’t believe the botch job done in the alterations and when I actually looked I was horrified myself. My 11 year old could have done a better job. Do not get...
Read moreDANGER!!! THEY LEFT THE PINS IN! Their alterations department is a mess. Not only do they overcharge for their services, but they don’t even properly make the alterations. They took the laziest way out and it was visible in photography and everything what they had done. The worst part though, was being stabbed by needles when bending over to put my shoes on, because they had left MULTIPLE NEEDLES in my dress. I figured this was because when I tried on the alterations the first time, they didn’t fix the stomach part correctly so we left it for them to fix. When I went to pick it up, they hadn’t made the changes they said they were going to do and played it off as though they made the alterations when all they did was keep it in storage for a week. We simply didn't have time to leave it for another week and come back, so we took it as is and hoped for the best.
The corset part of the dress was not strong enough to hold up and got really bad creases in it after around 1-2 hours. This wouldn't have happened had they done the boning we had asked them to do! I kept tripping on the back because they apparently didn’t hem it correctly and the hem in the back fell out at some point (no it wasn't the bustle that fell out, it was the actual hem). Fun fact: this resulted in us falling to the ground during our first dance! Yay! Thanks David’s Bridal! We had to go into the bathroom and jack up the dress with makeshift stitching to get it to hold up where the hem was, but ultimately I ended up just changing out of the dress.
For the price we paid for alterations, I expected the highest quality of work. We got the lowest quality, and even got stabbed with needles.
I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because had the dress been altered correctly, I did really love it! It was beautiful! I plan to take it to a different tailor and have it fixed properly to keep forever! So my advice to other buyers: Buy the dress here, get alterations...
Read moreTo say I’m unhappy with David’s Bridal would be an understatement. I had purchased my dress from another company and brought it to David’s for alterations. I called ahead of time and was reassured they could work on dresses they did not make. I brought the dress in for my appointment with my soon to be mother in law and all we needed/asked for was for the dress have some pickups added so that the length would be shorter without losing the overall shape in the layers of the dress. I was there for over an hour as the girl pinned every place a change would be made. I thought that apt went very well.
I came back on 9/23 to pick up the dress for my wedding on 10/5
As soon as we opened the bag we could see it wasn’t right. The string they used for the pickups was so thick you could see every single one through the layers of tool. When we put it on we found about 10 holes in the dress and the horsehair trimming was torn to shreds all the way around the dress. I was visibly upset with my dress being completely ruined. But the manager walked away from us and did not return to the appointment. After hours of speaking with the staff there they claimed they could fix it by Thursday . I returned on Wednesday after a call that the dress was ready. And it was just as bad as it was on Monday. They would not give me a refund for the full alterations amount because they claimed it was a third party dress and they did their best…. I was left to go find a new dress somewhere else a week before my wedding.
The managers here were not good to work with and made excuse after excuse. Then claimed they couldn’t prove I didn’t give them the dress with the holes and issues it was given back to me with.
I would recommend trying any other dress location for your...
