I'm far from being a food or restaurant expert. I just like good food of any kind that's prepared well. I also appreciate being treated (as I think we all do) like I & my business matter. I'm very much understanding of how busy any restaurant can get (although Koreana never had more than two or three tables filled whenever I was there), & that running a restaurant isn't always easy for the owners & staff. However, the difficulties of running a restaurant should be handled professionally & never, EVER be taken out on customers the way the owner does. Even with my trying to be as objective as possible about Koreana, & giving this place every possible consideration, this restaurant became a restaurant to stay away from once the lovely older ladies who'd owned it (wonderful grandmother types) sold it a few years back to the cretin who now owns it. After trying it twice with the new owner in residence a few years back, I tried it again recently & realized that I will once & for all, NEVER again come back! The most important part, the Korean food prepared here, was never anything special in comparison to other Western New York Korean restaurants. I wanted the food to be exceptional, but that was my being idealistic & hopeful, rather than realistic. The "bone-in" meat dishes are fatty with much gristle, which made them (in my estimation) extremely undesirable. If you cordially ask (with a smile) to have whatever the dish is that you ordered not to be prepared too spicy, you'll be made to feel like you've just taken your life in your hands. Friendliness, courtesy & customer care are not practiced here. There's many other fine Korean restaurants to choose from, so why go here? ~ Please allow me to make something VERY clear to anyone who might choose to try this place... This place is owned & run by a VERY ARROGANT, EXTREMELY RUDE & BELLIGERENT OWNER, with one of the worst ANTI-SOCIAL PERSONALITY disorders I've ever come across in a restaurateur, Korean...
Read moreJust moved to Buffalo from Rochester, having trouble finding authentic korean food, I found this place probably the best in the Western New York area haha.. I’ve tried 3 korean restaurants in Rochester and 3 in Buffalo so far and I was disappointed with their overpriced and substituted ingredients that made the dish lack the original flavors. Or some ingredients are always missing.. I understand that there’s no high demand for Korean food here like there is in NJ, NYC, LA.. which causes supply problems. That being said, I wanted to give Koreana a try and they nailed it! I’m not sure if every single dish on the menu is great, but I’ve tried Jaengban Jjajang, bulgogi, Bibimbap, Jjambong, and tofu stew so far and they were so good!! I was so ready to say I’ll just take any Korean food I can get as long as it’s not terrible, but now I don't have to! I’m so glad I found this place as it's now my go to place for authentic...
Read moreCame here with a friend. My regular Korean restaurant was closed so this was the closest one to where I was located at the time. Not many options, definitely a different set up. I wasn't a fan of their pork, it had a very sweet taste on some, and others were pork jerky like. Heaping portions of rice, which tasted over cooked. I wasn't a fan that I couldn't get bottled water, but could get a can of pop. If I wanted water I was given a small styrofoam cup and had to retreat back and forth to the water station. I was asked after I ordered to pay after I had eaten. They had a cart by the kitchen for you to put your dishes on after you had finished. The women cleaning the tables didn't speak...
