I was holding out on doing a review until I saw this establishment in all aspects busy and slow just to see if things changed. The first time we went the food was pretty good I didn’t have any complaints other than some things being cool and the crab legs weren’t cooked right they had no flavor. But my main issue that time was the waitress she was rushing us out we only had 2 and a half plates before she brought the bill, my sister was still on her first plus never offered refills we had to ask. Then here we go to tonight where I was completely done! The food was terrible they weren’t refilling the buffet in a timely manner at all. But let’s start with the food, the fried fish was under cooked and not crispy and lacked flavor ( which is odd because last time it was my favorite part), crab legs looked dirty and once again not cooked right, the rice was way over cooked both trips up to the buffet(how do you mess up rice?) then the buffet itself was messy food on the floor food was mixed in with other food it just was a big no! Now to the service of the night, once again we were being rushed out before we finished our first plate. When I told her we weren’t done she kept hovering around our table ignore the other guests at surrounding tables. We were not loud or disrespectful or causing a scene so there should have been no reason to be rushed out of an all you can eat buffet after one plate. While we went up to get our second plate we came back to our bill being on the table that was the last straw for me. We weren’t even there for 30 minutes haven’t even got to dessert. Then after such the bad experience I tipped $2 because I wasn’t happy and honestly didn’t want to tip anything for how rude she was. My sister decided not to tip and the waitress was trying to pressure her into tipping repeatedly saying “oh come on it’s the new year.” I told the lady she is fine and thank you. She smacked her teeth and walked away. Today was the last straw and it’s sad because we don’t have many decent buffets in the area but I refuse to be treated like that. Ps I forgot to mention she sat another couple at the adjoining table so me and another person where bumping elbows and it wasn’t even busy there where plenty of available tables and booths I was definitely not a fan of that I...
Read moreThe food was good but the reason why I leave this review today is due to one of the servers that got drinks to my table. Towards the end of paying my bill she told me to sign the receipt if I chose to leave a tip and I’ve had this server already before when Amherst buffet was located at a different location. The first time she said “no tip?” And so my partner gave her 5 dollars which I didn’t see why he would considering the fact that she hasn’t attended us only in the beginning when she gave us our drinks and that was it and we didn’t see her the whole time .Then yesterday we went out to eat, me and my family when we were finished and she said “1 dollar for the five of you as tip ?” And one of my family members were telling her that tips are optional and not mandatory she got disrespectful and one of my family members told her that “it doesn’t take 2 seconds to make their way up there and give back my card” because she got confrontational with us and she stormed off and began pointing at our table telling other servers how we didn’t tip her? Lmao hilarious. It’s not that we didn’t have money to tip because we did but it was not worth giving it to her. I heard her say to her other table,” no $5 tip?” ?! Like seriously? And that already made my decision easy because she’s done this to me already once and she’s doing it again and with other people. I guess we were the first to tell her no . I don’t give tips to people that asks and especially in the form she did it in and I always give out tips when eating out in restaurants and I’ve never had this happen to me only at Amherst buffet and besides If this was a kind of restaurant that serves you the food or cook it in front of you and not just bring drinks bc I could do that myself since I’m already getting everything for myself I would definitely tip but no I don’t see myself ever eating at Amherst buffet she was being completely ridiculous. Any real server would know never to ask...
Read moreAlthough the esthetic of the place is warm and welcoming I can't say the experience matched. I used to go to this restaurant once a week for family date night when they were on Niagara Falls Blvd but stopped because the quality of the food decreased. So when I seen they moved I just assumed they fixed any issues. I was mistakenly wrong. My 1st issue is that I came around the start of dinner, expecting the food would be fresh, instead everything tasted warmed up except the string beans and blue crab. The waitress only came to my table after we were 2 plates in and I had to go to the register just to ask for refills on our drinks. I usually tip between 6-20 dollars but being that she walked past our table numerous times and I had to request her services when we were almost ready to leave I left no tip. Instead I wrote in the tip section to "be sure to check on your table." While reading the tip as I gathered my children to leave the waitress had the nerve to scoff and say somethings in her language angrily and walked over to the register. I would have still left a tip if I didn't notice the same waitress serviced the table ahead and behind us multiple times and ignored our attempts to request refills and plate removals. I had decided those 2 reasons alone were enough to not return. As if that wasn't bad enough, my oldest and youngest son both had to be sent home from school the next day because they were sick. The night before they were complaining that the food tasted a little weird and both their stomachs were hurting. I had to keep them home today. After being charged over $100 for food this is not the experience i was hoping for. Anybody looking for good quality service and Chinese food I suggest you go to The Mongolian Buffet. It's a farther drive but the waitresses check on you, refill your drinks without asking, the food is fresh with a wider variety, the waitresses don't have attitudes, and your children won't get sick...
