A smallish dog park where your dog can't disappear on you. Unfortunately, this makes it attractive to people whose dogs are not well-trained. And people who haven't taken the time to train their dog often haven't taken the time to socialize their dog either. We visit dog parks a few times a week, but we've finally given up on Badger Prairie. We've simply had far too many bad experiences with aggressive dogs here. It's just not worth the risk. If your dog is trained and socialized, go to Prairie Moraine instead. It's large enough to discourage irresponsible dog owners. But please, if your dog is aggressive, don't go to any off-leash dog park at all.
I've heard the county is stepping up license enforcement at Badger Prairie. Hopefully that will make the park safer. It's well-designed and maintained. If could be a great dog park if only it were...
Read moreThis is such a great place for the puppy children. They actually have two parks: one really open, big one for all dogs; one for smaller dogs. So, you have some options if you don’t feel comfortable with your smaller dogs being out there with the larger dogs.
There is a lot of open space for them to run, and it has some equipment set up like an obstacle course if your dog is down for that. (My dogs personally look at me like I am stupid if I try to get them to use it, though.) There is a nice path to walk, too, and there is a good bit of seating. One thing to note is that there isn’t a ton of shade, so just be sure to bring plenty of water (for you and your puppies) and some sunscreen.
This is a super great dog park, though, and we go here every weekend. You and your puppies will definitely make some new...
Read moreMy three dogs and my family love the Dane County Dog Parks, but especially the Verona ones! We all enjoy the great walks we take at the parks and the interesting people and dogs we meet there. Our dogs do some hunting, agility for fun, digging in the field, and lots of running and greeting of people & dogs thrown in there! They love the games at Badger Prairie of chase/run/evade and play with many different dogs in the span of an hour or so. Through the many years we have gone to this park, we have had the great pleasure of meeting wonderful, kind and friendly people and canines at this park. We've enjoyed our times at Badger Prairie Dog Park and will continue to go there for...
