I booked the tour for Crush Beer & Wine Tours for a bachelorette party for my sister for the ROC Combo Tour for a half day, and overall it was a good experience. First off, our driver Ron was early to pick us up, and was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was nice just being able to go in and have the tastings "set up" for us. They do provide pretzels and cold water, as well. Second, we especially loved the experience at our first place Casa Larga - we even had the option of doing a wine & cheese or wine & chocolate pairing (I did the wine and cheese - so good!). Sager was our second stop, it was a cool atmosphere with great beer, but do wish their A/C was working better.
However, it wasn't without hiccups. First, with it being 85ish degrees yesterday, it was hot, and the A/C wasn't really on in the van (there was some switch, but Ron never explained it to us except that it had to be flipped off when he turned off the bus or it'd drain the battery). I'm wondering if he simply forgot to switch it on.
Second, two of the four locations (Black Button Distillery and Fairport Brewing on University) were not expecting us whatsoever. Both places were accommodating to us (especially Black Button - such a great experience there), but it did put a damper on the experience.
Third, despite asking about it, the schedule of where we'd be and what order wasn't really communicated to us until the day of. I would have like to have seen it at least a week before.
Overall, it was a good experience, but there is room for improvement. If I were to book again, I would definitely need more communication about the itinerary for the day, and a more comfortable...
Read moreWe booked the Seneca Lake: Wine Tasting Tour with Crush Beer & Wine Tours, specifically choosing our hotel to align with their pickup location – that's how dedicated we were to this experience!
Our driver, a former military member whose name, regrettably, escapes me (likely due to the very enjoyable and generous wine tastings!), was exceptionally friendly. We immediately hit it off, discovering shared experiences from our respective military service, which made for fantastic conversation throughout the day.
The tour program itself was excellently structured, including visits to four different wineries and tasting rooms. This variety was a huge plus, allowing us to sample a wide array of wines. Some stops even offered light meal options or delis, which was perfect for grabbing lunch along the way. Our transportation for the day was a Kia Sedona, and since we were the only participants, the tour felt wonderfully private and personalized.
Now, a small personal confession: I initially misunderstood the tour's name, "Seneca Lake: Wine Tasting Tour," and somehow imagined we'd be cruising the lake by boat. Upon re-reading the details after the tour, I realized there was no mention of a boat whatsoever – purely my own misconception! However, despite this minor mix-up, our comfortable Sedona ended up feeling just as good as a boat, whisking us smoothly between vineyards.
Ultimately, even without the boat, the entire experience was incredibly satisfying. Highly recommend it for a comprehensive and enjoyable wine tour around...
Read moreMy husband and I booked the Sip & Savor With Lunch tour for my birthday and we completely blown away by the experience.
Our driver, Ron, came to pick us up at our B&B and was a delight from start to finish. He was right on time (a little early even!) and had everything under control. Excellent knowledge of the area, great driving, amazing conversation the entire time. He pointed out local points of interest and had great insight. He was with us for the whole day, and was always going above and beyond to make sure we had the best time.
Our tour took us to Heron Hill, Arbor Hill, Inspire Moore, and Hazlett Wineries. Every stop had something my husband and I loved (and a few things we never would have picked for ourselves, but found we loved). Our favorite spot was Arbor Hill (ask for Edgar if you're doing a tasting).
We ate lunch at Roots Cafe, which is connected to Inspire Moore. The food was incredible and the portion sizes were huge. You get a glass of wine with your meal, which is nice. However, our tasting was scheduled for after lunch so we didn't know which wine we would enjoy with our meal. If I were to change one thing about the tour it would be swapping the Inspire Moore tasting to before lunch so you can have a full glass of the wine you liked best.
Overall, this was an incredible experience. I would recommend this to anyone who is visiting Canandaigua. I can't wait to come back to Crush for one of their...
