I ordered a Ready-to-Wear suit from Oliver Wicks for a wedding, expecting that I would need minor alterations. The suit arrived only 2 days before the wedding, so I needed to find a tailor that could take in the waistband and shorten the trouser length with a very short turnaround time. I called VMT, and was able to get in immediately for a fitting, and it took only 1 hr to get the trousers altered and pressed. I used that time to run over to Eastview Mall and pick up a new dress shirt and tie for the occasion. The service at VMT was very friendly, the sewing/fitting area is spacious and well organized, which gave me confidence that the work would be done cleanly and correctly the first time. I brought in a formal dress for alterations with less than two weeks' time before I needed it for an upcoming wedding. I needed the hemline shortened, but the hem for this dress is very complicated. The garment is made of Georgette, a lightweight crepe-like fabric, and it has a ruffled hem and neckline. It's a wrap-style dress with a high-low silhouette; the front lifts partway up to the knee, and the back is full-length and fluttery. To keep the ruffled effect, you can't just hem it straight around the bottom. I would not recommend if you are considering alterations for your wedding dress. I went in knowing exactly what I wanted for my wedding dress. He just did not agree with anything I wanted to have done to my own dress because he thought it wouldn’t look good and that I would be happy with the outcome. After a few minutes of telling him that’s what I wanted, he eventually put a piece of fabric there to envision how it would look.
