What a dump of a park. I think all the 5 star reviews are for the BMX dirt bike park, which is nice, but everything around it is either out of date, graffitied, unkempt, or otherwise forsaken. Definitely a park from a time past. It’s kind of ironic though because it’s in the heart of the up and coming TR tourist district full of new and exciting places and things to do.
City of TR: PLEASE UPDATE THIS PARK! The playground equipment is graffitied, there are only 2 swings, nothing is baby/toddler friendly, yet there were many families with kids there when we went. Trash littered around, no trash cans, weedy grass, a dilapidated staircase going up to the library, grass growing through the cracks of the forlorn tennis court, parking lots with pot holes, a woods with half broken and fallen limbs, overgrown shrubs, the list goes on and on.
2 stars for location and potential.
Update #1: 4 mos later… TR has re-paved the tennis and basketball courts, so that’s something at least! Other things mentioned are still in disarray. Would love to see the playground updated. It’s all old, graffitied, dirty plastic and paint-chipped metal. Plus there’s a 2-3’ drop off at the backend that, when combined with the rock slabs below, could prove to be quite injurious for toddlers. The foliage on the path from the football field is still unkempt. The same huge broken branch from 4 months ago continues to hang, looming, threatening head concussions to some poor family whose strolling about, unaware of the lack of concern from Parks & Recreation officials.
Update #2: 1 year later… playground still in shambles, nothing has been done to improve it, and 1 of the 2 swings has gone...
Read moreIf I'm basing my ratings off of all parks in Greenville and surrounding areas, this one is getting a low grade. The playground equipment is very limited, and I'm pretty sure there are two swings here. Two. The bathrooms aren't always open and are not as nice as other parks. The pump track is very cool, and I think a lot of these ratings deal with that, which is great, but I'm reviewing based on having little kids and looking for a good place to play. The football field is nice and it's fun to run on the baseball/softball field. But the park needs a lot more attention as far as groundskeeping and equipment. There is a concrete slab, not covered, that has a few picnic tables but I think it's 3 or less. The proximity to downtown and the library is nice, but this park needs a lot more attention to get my rating to go up especially when competing with other parks in...
Read moreThis park has a mediocre playground and an ok ballfield, but what sets it apart is a phenomenal mountain bike skills park. There is an easy loop as well as some more advanced terrain and a recently redone jump line that is very well maintained and put together for great progression. This park is perfectly set up to bring your kid and their bike and build their skills, with something for every level of rider from...
