Read or Scroll~ First of all I want to start by saying I have never in 60 years complained about any hair service. I’ve always been one of those”It’s just hair” people. Because of health reasons I haven’t had my hair done in 2 years. I made an appointment at the closest place that had good reviews. I needed a color and cut for my Daughters wedding this Saturday. I had a bad feeling from the moment I went in. My hairdresser seemed so unsure of what she was doing. Worked very slow and cut my hair 3 times before getting the length even close to the picture I took her. She never checked the color and after 35 minutes rinsed it out. 2 1/2 hours later I had a bad haircut and only part of my hair colored. She did offer to try to fix the color but, I was exhausted by this time and was afraid of what she would do next. My question is would you have paid her? I did. But, I don’t feel good about it. Love this little salon! I live in TR and have bounced around to different local salons with mixed experiences. I was looking for somewhere new and decided to give Salon at S Poinsett a try. I popped in for a cut and style and had Emily as my stylist. Emily was pleasant and easy to talk to. She seemed knowledgeable about hair and gave me a great cut. I can’t wait to go back and get a cut and color next time. One recommendation for the owner- The place is in desperate need of a deep clean (hair all over baseboards) and fresh paint all over. It looks like the place hasn’t been painted in the 10 years since they opened their doors. The entry door, window moldings, etc. all need a fresh coat. Adding plants and other pretty elements would be a nice touch too. Aesthetics are really important if they want to complete with the place across...

I discovered Salon at South Poinsett and Emily Johnson a few years ago when I needed a last minute cut and my usual place had no openings. I booked with Emily, and after that first appointment with her never went back to my old place again. My hair is thick and curly and not the easiest to deal with, and Emily consistently gives me the best cut I've ever had with almost zero instruction on my part--she just has a great feel for what will work. I fully trust that if I just sit in the chair she'll do something I love. She's also a magician with keratin treatments, which basically eliminated my blow dry and straightening routine last summer. Her prices are insanely reasonable--I used to pay considerably more at other salons for results I wasn't nearly as happy with. I can't recommend Emily...
