Well, I can say that we have given Upcountry Provisions multiple attempts. After multiple visits (probably over ten) in the past year or so I have left unimpressed and disappointed. Firstly, I would like to emphasize that this rating/review is not reflective of any of the employees or the customer service I have received. In fact, partially why I am giving Upcountry Provisions two stars instead of one is because of the generally pleasant and positive interactions I have had with employees. However, that’s where everything kind of stops so to speak. Overall, I just can’t justify the price that I’m paying for the end product. Typically we get a couple of sandwiches for takeout and the average wait time has varied between 10 minutes to upwards of 20 minutes. I realize that depending on the time of day that can fluctuate. However, it’s worth emphasizing that a lot of the menu is compromised of sandwiches/wraps and salads. In an essence, majority of the menu is not made up of items that require extensive cooking times/preparation. Therefore, if you’re wanting to come by for a quick sandwich it can be up in the air as to how long your stop may take for your meal to be assembled. However, the biggest issue I have is just from a standpoint of value and portions. The average price for sandwiches is over $10, most being between $12-$13, for a sandwich. And while it is made on their own bread (which is quite good) the sandwiches are only about the size of your average piece of loaf bread, maybe slightly larger. This isn’t a sub style sandwich which is typically a bit larger. I also find that the ingredients in the sandwiches, while they taste fine, are usually lacking significantly in portion size. And when you’re paying such a high price for a sandwich that more than likely has a mixture of cold ingredients and mostly cold cuts, you would expect a bit more for the price. It’s also worth mentioning that side options a pretty limited to either a bag of chips or cucumber slices. I’ll reiterate that I have no problem with these options, but it’s a bit disappointing to say the least that these are the only options for such a price point. I’ll say it again, my biggest gripe is that I just can’t understand there being any sort of value to be found. Sandwich places these days are everywhere and to me, there just isn’t enough to make this particular restaurant stand out in order to legitimize the price points. I will say that their pastries are really a highlight on their menu but they do run out of things from time to time. I’ll return for pastries whenever I catch a sweet tooth, but otherwise I won’t be catching a meal here anymore. It hurts my wallet too much to be frank, and I’m usually still...

Read moreI am divided on this one. I will say up front, the service here is amazing. We came in on a holiday and it was packed. With any small place like this, you would expect delays and there was one. They gave us an honest timeframe for our food before we paid and that was acceptable. We sat and waited for our food for a little longer than we expected, but two members of the staff came out to explain. One of our plates had been dropped. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I understand that as a perfectly reasonable thing for a person to do. Just that explanation alone would have been enough for me, but they gave us a sizable gift card as well as a very sincere apology. That is above and beyond what most places would do. It deserves appreciation. On the note of the food, I am a little less favorable. I will admit that I prefer a more basic level of food, so when the menu is too “high class” it does not appeal to me as much. I had to struggle a bit to find something that was more in my preference for food. Additionally, the grits were the worst that I have had. You can find places with runny grits, others with overdone. This was the first time I had grits that contained both in the same bowl. Perhaps that was just the rush. I am giving 5 stars because the rest of my family was thrilled and the service was exemplary, but there are some...
