LA Fitness — Attraction in Trumbull

I am laughing at all the FAKE positive reviews on this site... The truth is people should NOT sign up for any type of membership at LA Fitness of Trumbull. I have been a member for 7 years and the Trumbull location is by far the worst.

The only reason I joined LA fitness is because of the pool. Their pool has been down for well over two months now. The only answer you get from that RUDE guy at the desk is "there is no timeline" for when it will be fixed. Don't dare try to ask this guy anymore questions regarding the pool either. He will get really snippy with you.

Or the other response you get is "the guy is coming to fix it today" They have been saying that for two months...

This location has completely gone downhill. The locker room and shower stalls are literally disgusting. I was there the other day and all the soap dispensers in the showers were gone. There is mold on the shower curtains and walls. Most times there are no paper towels. And definitely do not go there on the weekend because it's filthy.. I can't believe the health department hasn't shut this place down.

If you are looking for paper towels you can usually find them all over the floor. Apparently some people don't know how to use a garbage can. This includes dirty paper towels all over the sauna floor too. I also can't count how many times the sauna and hot tub have been down. Don't sign up here...

It is so completely obvious that any nice reviews of this place are phoney reviews probably coming from the staff...The staff usually tries to bury the negative reviews with responses to fake reviews....(the negative reviews are all 100% correct)

I have literally had to place my membership on hold for 3 months because of the pool situation...

Again don't join this club....They have recently closed two LA fitness gyms in CT. Bristol (where I originally signed up) and Newington.....I started going to Trumbull because of Bristol closing...

It's really a shame that they let this Trumbull Gym go to waste like this.

The real reason they WONT fix the pool is because the part costs too much... I have spoken to the corporate office numerous times about this. This is what they told me.. So anyone posting that their "pool is great" is a liar... The fact is they are TOO CHEAP to fix the pool. But they have NO problems taking your monthly membership fees...First they told you it was the ceiling coming down, now it's the heater ($60,000)....

The guy I spoke to this morning wouldn't even let me speak to the manager when I requested that. He said "he was one of the managers" which I know is a lie since I know the manager...

I have been coming here now for three months, and there are pros and cons. While the pros outweigh the cons for me, I should note here-I pay $28 a month going through my insurance, and the gym is very close to my home. If I was going at full price, I might not be so forgiving.

Pros: Staff is lovely. Always friendly and engaging. The place is pretty clean. There is a wide array of equipment (some of which needs more TLC).

Cons: Many of the dumbbells disappeared during the pandemic. I am told that people stole them, and I see them just now being replaced, but they were gone for a very long time. The place is poorly managed, and no one is actively walking the floor. This is why the dumbbells walked away. This is also why people do not rerack their weights, play music on a Bluetooth speaker competing with the overhead music, monopolize machines and dumbbells, set up tripods to film, bags on the floor, etc. I even had a group of three kids pass me vaping. Not fun when you are mid-lift. PRT (in house personal training) took over an area so they have a "pay to play" program. Coulda used those weights for months while the club weights were missing. Of note-there is a personal trainer walking around all day, every day, taking up space as well. Nice guy, but this should stop as the place is not supposed to have personal trainers not on PRT. The pool has been up and down several times in the three or so months I have been there, and the jacuzzi has been down more than it's been up. Literally down about 75% of the time, and has been for weeks at the time of this writing. The pool has been down too, but now back up, and they have introduced a swimming lesson program which takes up space that customers could be using. The television is on in the locker room which competes with the music that's on in the locker room which completes with the conversations going on in the locker room. Why? No WIFI. In this day and age, this is just ridiculous. I might also add, the gym is pretty large, and deep, so I get very little signal as I move further in.

I spoke with general customer service, and a nice person named Esther fielded my call. I got some satisfaction there with a return of my annual, but I was told that a manager would call me to discuss my concerns. That has not happened.
