Academy Sports + Outdoors — Attraction in Trussville

Our son was starting baseball and he required some black pants, so we ended up here because our local Walmart didn't have the right color of pants. Luckily we were able to find a couple pairs along with a bag for his baseball gear. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. That being said...please do not go here on the weekend before sports season (especially if you're anxious in closed-in places). You WILL be smothered by crowds and stuck waiting in long lines (because of course there are only 1 - 2 lanes open). There was next to no selection of youth baseball cleats (plenty of soccer cleats though).

Their bathrooms need some MAJOR attention...my daughter and I had to go and there was toilet paper all over the commodes. It gets better. The stall I was using had what looked like FECES on the toilet paper cover.

Also the area in general is getting bad...we were met with the smell of not just cigarettes but pot (yes, pot) when we got to our vehicle. Workers need a little bit more training when it comes to customer service. Your door greeter hands you a sheet of paper without explaining what she is handing out let alone what promos are currently happening in the store. Also, she drills you if you have a return if I have my card, if I have the receipt madam if I didn’t have any of those I wouldn’t be in the store and if I didn’t have them I would gladly take a gift card to shop at a different store or online. Then you have workers who noticed a line but do nothing. The cashier is processing a new credit card, however she dropped the ball when she didn’t communicate with her team to let them know what was happening i.e reason they have walkie talkies. After they noticed I stayed in the line where the card was being done since they were towards the end. I had a return and instead of kindly telling me to swipe my card she repeated herself as if I irritated her back to back to back. I know retail and this store is in need of a revamp of how to do proper customer services. Shame on...

Academy Sports Trussville, AL I would not recommend this store as a FFL receiver….they will open your order claiming they have to verify it but when you come to pick it up half of it will be missing and they will conveniently refer you back to the store you originally ordered from… and then to add insult to injury tell me they probably shipped the rest to your house …. If that was the case I would have received an additional tracking number from the store I placed the order from…they wouldn’t even run the camera back to see who received the order and opened it…..The policy should be to open and verify orders with the customer there so that there will be no confusion…. So basically they will receive your order, open it, take what they want and say it’s not their problem and refer you back to where you ordered it so they do not have to take any responsibility…. I will never shop there, use them for anything or refer them to anyone …. BUYERS...
