Mizu Japanese Steakhouse in Trussville offers a delightful dining experience with a clean, beautiful atmosphere that immediately sets a welcoming tone. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive vibe of the restaurant. The food stands out as the highlight of the experience. The Temptation Roll is a must-try, packed with fresh, vibrant flavors that sushi enthusiasts will appreciate. Their sushi menu overall shines with precision and quality, making it one of the stronger points of the restaurant. Appetizers, however, are slightly hit-or-miss. The fried calamari was decent but lacked the bold flavor typically expected from this dish. While it wasn't bad, it could benefit from a more seasoned and balanced preparation. One notable downside lies in the drinks. If you're someone who enjoys cocktails with a smooth blend of flavors, Mizu’s drinks might not hit the mark. They lean heavily on the alcohol-forward side, with minimal sweetness or complexity. The mixing seems inconsistent, with the top layer tasting predominantly of straight alcohol and only a hint of mix settling at the bottom. In summary: Ambiance: Clean, beautiful, and welcoming. Service: Friendly and attentive staff. Food: Excellent sushi, standout rolls, but appetizers could use more refinement. Drinks: Alcohol-heavy and not well-mixed; ideal for those who prefer stronger drinks without much sweetness. Overall, Mizu Japanese Steakhouse is well worth a visit for sushi lovers and those looking for a pleasant dining experience, but cocktail enthusiasts might find the drink menu underwhelming.

My Wife, Daughter, and I ate here for lunch today. We decided to sit at the tables, rather than the grill, to avoid the wait. The waitress was nice and all was good until our food arrived. My daughter's meal had a hair right on top of her chicken, it was very easy to see. We pulled it out of the food and put it on a napkin while the waitress was still standing there. Based on the look of the hair, I questioned what body part it came from. Have a look at the picture. The waitress apologized, took her plate, and said they would remake her food. About 15 mins later they brought her plate. Based on the temperature of the food and look of the plate, I questioned if they remade it or just took it to the back and re-brought it out. The waitress told us that she mentioned the hair to her manager and said they would comp or discount my daughter's meal. My daughter lost her appetite about the situation and hardly ate. When the bill came, the waitress said that they were not going to discount or comp the meal. It was not the waitress fault so I gave a tip, but overall, I'll never go back here. I understand that bad things happen and I wouldn't think the hair was intentional. But the lack of care from the management was concerning. It almost felt like that they were mad at us because we found a hair .. which makes me wonder, if they were not concerned about the hair, what else is unsanitary in the back that the customers dont see!?!

Have eaten here many times over the years, always has been good and my wife and I always get the same thing, hibachi steak and hibachi chicken. We went tonight for the first time in maybe 6-8 months and both the steak and chicken had changed for the worse. The moment it came out we could tell just by looking at it, the chicken looked like canned chicken. After taking a bite we both compared it to chicken noodle soup chicken. The steak was also incredibly poor quality. The rice was good. I asked the waiter if the meats had changed, as they obviously had, and he brought the manager over who offered to remake it. I told her I wasn’t supper worried about it as I felt like it would come out the same, but she insisted. It came out mostly the same, just slightly more brown on one side where they tried to cook it some more to change the look. I’m not sure if the change of meat was only to the table side and not the hibachi side, or if it was just a bad night where they ran out of food and had to scramble and this is what they came up with, but either way there’s no way we go back. One bite of the steak and chicken that was such poor quality was almost enough for me to not want to continue eating any of the meal, which was sad for a dinner we were excited to have. Service was good and the rest of the...
