Really had a taste for sushi and went in. A girl brought my menu, but after I saw some seats down closer to the beer selection open up, I changed seats which I believe made the manager Mike my new server. He cleaned the area and told me he would be back I a moment. In the time he walked away towards the back and said a few words to the other waitress working, a couple comes in and sits down about 2 minutes later. A waitress upon them sitting down gets their drinks. Mike comes back, passes by, gets change for his one of the waitresses and takes it to her. While doing that, the couple gets their beer, and proceeds to order. Mike walks back and in passing asks me if I'm ready to order, not what can I get you to drink, hello my name is, welcome to rock and roll sushi...have you been here before...none of the above. Before asking for my Sappora Beer, I ask him if he can take the crumbled up napkin in front of me that was left after the last guests which made it clear that he didn't wipe down the area and had no intention to. Looked at the napkin and made a comment as if it was mine but I simply said,"can I give this to you"? It was apparent he forgot that I had just moved to that seat and he forgot to clear that when he cleared everything else. I order my beer and he asks for my I'D. I'm 34 and can look young from time to time, but I definitely look over the age of 21 and I understand it can be policy, but when the gentlemen is sitting down from me orders his drink and doesn't have to show his I'd, then I'm a little confused. My experience with rock and roll sushi has went down over the past few years but this experience to me, was not good. The attitude towards me from Mike seemed cold and not as friendly as I felt it could've been. I eat a lot of sushi when I go there and tip well due to being a server for over 4 years and I like rock and roll sushi, but I don't know if it was because I'm a guy, or Mike was busy, but the attitude turned me off to the point of leaving and at this point, I probably won't be back...
Read moreMy spouse and I have eaten here 4 times. Food is usually good. Service though????? Two of the 4 times we had pretty good/average service. Two times (including today 5-13-2022) service was HORRIBLE. The kicker is it was the same waiter! The first time he was our waiter he brought our food and never checked on us. That day he was hanging around a table with two young women. We had to get his attention to get our ticket. We chalked it up to one bad experience.
Tonight (5-13-2022) I saw he was our waiter...I dreaded it after the last time but gave him the benefit of the doubt. He Took our order. When he dropped our food order off at the table WE had to ask for refills before he left us. Generally that is ok ....but....unfortunately after he dropped the order with us it was basically the last time he spoke to us (even after a 30 or so minute time span) until WE had to ask for our ticket yet AGAIN. He walked by our table multiple times over the 30 minute time span. Never did acknowledge or check on us. We asked him if he had something against us (by the way the first time I have EVER asked a waiter or waitress that). He said no he was busy helping a party. So the party took precedence over us?
I am hesitant to go back especially if I have to have him as my waiter again.
FOLLOW UP: I do wish to thank Michael Chandler the regional support manager for this Rick N Roll Sushi. I appreciate the fact he wanted to address my concern. It was a very good conversation! I do plan on giving the restaurant...
Read moreYesterday I was out shopping for Christmas presents. One of the locations I visited was Best Buy’s and as I came out of the store, I noticed that Rock ‘n’ Roll Sushi was very close nearby. I decided I could use an afternoon snack so I dropped in and ordered the Shrimp Tempura Roll which was subscribed on the menu as shrimp tempura with cucumbers and avocados inside topped with eel sauce.
I have to tell you that the eel sauce really didn’t sound appetizing. However, based on the description of the server I decided to give it a try. Actually I found that I really liked the thick brown sauce that was drizzled over the roll. (Later I found a recipe online. Its ingredients consists of equal portions of soy sauce, sugar, and Miriam - a rather sweet Japanese cooking wine.) The roll itself was very good with the tempura shrimp giving it a bit of a crunchy texture. To my surprise roll was quite filling.
Based on the menu, this is not your typical sushi joint. They serve sushi, but with a definite American twist with ingredients like Cajun seasoned crawfish.
The rock ‘n’ roll atmosphere of the restaurant comes not only from the classic rock ‘n’ roll music that I love in the background. (Thankfully, it’s not overly loud.) It’s also found in the names they have given too many of their menu items such as the Unplugged Roll, the British invasion Roll, and the Tour Bus Roll. Together it all gives the atmosphere a unique vibe.
I’ll be back soon, and I will update this review with...
