I almost never want to tell people about this park despite it being here for many many years. With the expansion of i-19 and Ajo way I fear it's going to be overrun but it is a beautiful Oasis at the foot of the Saguaro National Monument West. The lake is regularly stocked and fishing is allowed. There are beautiful birds it is very clean and many areas are accessible for folks who cannot walk or require assistance. It is my favorite public park in Tucson superseding Reid Park if only because of its location at the foot of Saguaro forests that are just breathtaking. I hope it always keeps it's local flavor and secret spots. Do note it is right by Homeland Security and the Border Patrol along 86 which of course is a major Borderland Crossing corridor. This does not bother me but other people should be aware the area is filled with law enforcement as well as military. If you are abiding by the law you will have absolutely no trouble and be made...
Read moreBeautiful park to go walking and to go fishing. The lower half of the park is grass, ramadas, tennis courts, baseball fields, and of course kids playgrounds. The higher ground there is a beautiful clean lake , boat docking area with a desert terrain. The ramadas have grills and water fountains but the individual bathroom stalls don't have doors. This park is big because there is another section that has several grass soccer fields. At the entrance to the park from Mission Rd. you'll see a nice public library. You can also find a McDonald's, Food City, Los Betos, Little Caesars and a Jack in the box across the street from the park. There are no designated bike paths inside the park plus the paved roads and parking areas are not...
Read moreGreat for wildlife lovers and family's, BBQ's, a lake for fishing, and some night views of Tucson that are amazing. I have been trying to get pictures of the rabbits in the park but the pictures I want to show are only available when there is very little light left in the evening so I'll describe it to everyone. Rabbits in Kennedy Park can be seen as a herd yes a herd I've seen as many as 12 to just under 20 in a about a 40 square ft. area grazing. But I can't get close enough with the light to show anyone so bring the kids and let them count how many they can spot all the way in the back near the playground. Happy...
