Don't Let the location fool you: Hilarious Improv at Jackalope Comedy Theatre
Forget fancy theaters and overpriced drinks - Jackalope is where improv goes raw and real. Tucked away downstairs between Barnes Drug Store and Ok Cannibus (think dive bar with a stage), this intimate venue offers some of the best laughs in town.
Sure, the space might be a bit worn and unconditional around the edges, but that's part of the charm. You're here for the comedy, and Jackalope delivers in spades. The troupe of performers is nothing short of phenomenal. Their wit is sharp, their energy is infectious, and their ability to think on their feet is awe-inspiring.
The audience suggestions set the stage for scenes that range from absurd to surprisingly poignant. The night I went, a suggestion of "taxes" interpreted “axes” led to a hilarious takedown of pretentious acting techniques, complete with silent slow-motion flourishes and audience participation.
Here's the beauty of improv: every show is unique. You never know what you're going to get, and that's part of the thrill. The Jackalope isn't just comedy, it's an experience. It's a place where you can let loose, shout out suggestions, and be part of the creative process.
Pro tip: Arrive early to snag a seat (seating is limited).

I wasn't disappointed! Jason, the instructor was great, and his enthusiasm for Improv comedy really shone through. The lessons were engaging and fun, and I learned so much about being more natural and spontaneous in my interactions with others - both on stage as an improv actor and off stage in normal conversations.

Read moreWas in Tulsa for a quick visit, I take improv classes at home and reached out to see if they allow visitors. I was lucky enough to join in on a jam, basically a practice where you get to play with other students and teachers. Makes me a little sad that I don’t live here because this was a really fun group of people.
If you’re considering trying out improv or going to a show I’d say definitely do it! The theater itself is super cute and unique and everyone was very welcoming. 100/10...
