I have done about 8 different escape room establishments and over 30 rooms total from those establishments. I would have to rank this on the lower end of my list. One thing I like about this place was that it was different from other places. It have you solving a mystery (makes you feel like you are in CSI) instead of just trying to get out of the room, but beside that nothing was too amazing/eye opening and after a couple of clues everything was too obvious. The first room I've done is "Cabin of the Woods" with a group of 4. We got there about 20min early. They told us that they weren't ready for us and for us to stay in the lobby. We didn't get to our room after 15 min our scheduled time, which is fine, but after the game was over, the game master was rushing us out of the room and wouldn't give us the time to ask questions or get clarification. I get that you need to reset the room for the next team but it wasn't our fault that the game was started late. Another thing in this case is that we thought we were supposed to be watched and heard throughout the game, but when we used our last clue to try to determine the murder, they told us information that we have already stated multiple times out loud, making the clue worthless. After that, my team felt like maybe it was a one time issue and decided to book "Haunted Hotel" with 5 people a couple of weeks later. This was even a worse experience. The room does not have any AC or fan. The room was pretty tight so with 5 people in 100+ weather, it got stuffy really fast. There was many random locked, empty boxes that didn't have any keys/code. Some of the puzzle have no connection and seem to be there just because. There were lots of "puzzle like" stuffs all over the room but was not needed. They made us download an app for one scene that was already shown in the room. So app was useless. Asked for our last clue and it made us even more confuse. Usually all escape rooms establishment prefer us not to use our phone light as they already provide some kind of light and it also help us keep ourselves in the moment/mood, but with this room, you will need to used your phone light. It would be nice if we were told this beforehand as us trying to figure this out have cut into our time. This time our gamemaster was a teenager that seem to be here just for a summer job. There was no excitement or enthusiasm at all. She didn't even offer to take a picture after the game. She just lead us to the lobby and left. Seem like they need to get better staff and fix their scheduling. Overall, not worth the money. Rather to just buy the game board "Clue" and...
Read moreSUMMARY - WASTE OF TIME! UNHELPFUL STAFF. NO ONE WOULD BE HAPPY TO WAIT 45 MINS PASSED A "RESERVATION" FOR ANYTHING. On 8/13/2022 we reserved the Forensics lab escape room for a party of 4 at 11:15pm. Instructions said to be 15 mins early. We arrived at 11:00pm, filled out the waiver form and were told to wait for someone to come get us. We waited til we saw an employee, a young lady came to the stairs at 11:28pm and told us she had to reset the room. Since we were already 13 minutes passed our reservation time, I asked how long? She said it would be 5 minutes. My friend asked if we were getting the full hour since we were late starting. She said yes. So we said if they weren't ready in 10 minutes, we just want a refund. The young lady said yes maam, apologized and was very polite. My friends even tried to use the restroom which had no toilet paper and no soap.... We waited until 11:44pm (14 minutes after we were told it would be 5 mins/and 30 mins after our reservation) before going up to the desk. The employee at the front desk was not helpful, and not willing to be helpful. She was on her phone. She blatantly accused us of yelling at her friend. She wasn't willing to even give us an explanation as to why it was so late passed our reservation time and she was told numerous times that's all we wanted to know. We don't mind waiting had she communicated with us about the wait time and them being behind schedule. She kept saying "You can talk to my manager" but wouldn't get her on the phone. Then she said she could just go ahead and take us up to the room (even though we were never told room was ready, just that "her friend was too upset and couldn't compose herself to even get it ready"), but never moved in the direction to do so, so I told her we'd just like our money back. She gave us the managers number, I tried to call a few times and never got any answer. As I was calling, my friend walked up and tried to explain to her in another way our frustration. She refused to listen and told us to "I don't even want to work the room for you guys, just get out". We said not until we get our money back, she said "You will get your money back, but you have to get in touch with my manager." I said we were going to dispute the charge on the card first. So we stood there to do that, and then we left at midnight. 45 minutes after our...
Read moreOverall, the room didn’t feel intuitive as one couldn’t tell what was for props and what was significant. There was such a focus on telling us not to destroy things or move things that we were afraid to touch anything. It required the use of cellphones for a flashlight and for clues which takes away from the experience. Not to mention the app didn’t work correctly half the time. As is, and for the price of the experience, I would not recommend to anyone.
SPOILER ALERTS Below:‼️ Death of Blackbeard.
I had a party of 6 and we did the “Death of Blackbeard”. I’m giving it two stars because I think the idea of escaping a cell was a fun idea, but after that everything was kind of eh.
Overall, the room didn’t really feel intuitive and there was such a focus on telling us not to destroy things or move things that we were afraid to touch anything. Sometimes this caused us to not utilize the clues because we thought they just broke off.
For example, they told us the bamboo for the jail cells breaks easily, so when a piece fell off that we were supposed to use to reach a key, we thought it was just broken and didn’t think it was to be used as a tool.
Another example is there was a parrot in the room that started to blink red. As soon as we touched it, they said “hands off the parrot”, so we thought it was just a prop and were afraid to touch it. They then had to give us a clue 5 minutes later to tell us to try to feed the parrot.
The video clue given after the game leader first left was skipping. We were required to use our phones to receive other clues and the app would only work sometimes on one of my clues.
We had to use our flashlights on our phones to get through the game and this doesn’t help one to get into the experience. Especially when phones are required to receive clues.
I recommend they work to try to make the game more intuitive to know what are props and what can be used in the game. I also recommend fixing your video clues so they aren’t skipping.
In another escape room, there was an actor that helped to give hints in a fashion that helped us feel we were really in the experience. Maybe that could be an idea for your escape room. I’m hoping the owner reads this and makes...
