Terrible terrible terrible rude and disrespectful.
My family and I just moved to Mississippi. We drove a hour to go shopping in Tupelo. I have been collecting for 25 years and got stoked to see a game store near where we were shopping. Anyways I called before I went. They said they had a few gold stars etc. I was elated. However when I walked into the store I waited about five minutes and no one approached me. Finally a heavier set guy asked “how can I help”? I explained to him I called and proceeded to ask if anyone collected or appreciated Pokémon cards. The guy with the beard(assuming the owner or manager) proceeded to look at our huge graded collection and I explained to him the rarity of my cards and how proud I was etc.
I asked him if any of the gold stars were near mint and he said “yes” to all three and even stated “one might nail a ten”. That was a instant red flag and told me he knew nothing about grading(tens are never guaranteed….never)
Anyways. I started looking at the cards. I gently took them out of the top loader and then out of the penny sleeve to inspect potential 500$ cards I might buy…all three had whitening and edge issues. I told him “no worries” and that I would keep looking.
I picked a few more I wanted to see the condition on. The manager then proceeded to tell me “we won’t be having anymore of that,if you want to buy the card, I’ll look at them and tell you the condition and sell you the card”….I said “excuse me?” “These are extremely high end expensive cards and I want to see what I might be paying thousands for.” He told me no… (second red flag) I told him to have a nice day if your gonna treat a paying customer (and no small amount mins you) like that. As I was walking outta the store he raised his voice in a cocky tone and said “have a nice day sir” ….
Will never ever ever suggest that place and I will make sure my followers know never to go there as well. Terrible terrible...
Read moreI absolutely love Alpha Gaming. They truly bring my childhood back to life. The quality of products are well taken care of because the owner is a gamer enthusiast. Yes, you can go anywhere in town or the world to get the same product but how's the quality? Can the place you go to disassemble a game system and put it back together in front of you? Alpha Gaming can. Most places will send your stuff off to have it repaired. Who knows what could happen in the mail or at this foreign place? Your stuff could easily get lost or damaged in the process of traveling by mail services. The prices are normal. They always have the B2GO under $10. Buy 2 games; get 1 game free all 3 have to be under $10. So, you get 3 games for around $20 or less. Also, they have the original gaming systems from the 80's and 90's. The all in one gaming systems such as the snes classic for $79 at various places is NOT the same as the original system. The originals will always hold/increase their value over time. So, the investment of a few extra dollars is worth it. The staff is down to earth - amazing people. I always laugh at least once. If you don't find them funny, you obviously don't have a sense of humor. Also, they are very knowledgeable in games/consoles. When they explain something, it's in terms you can understand and very thorough with the explanation. Some places can cut you short for varies reason but AG has always gone over and beyond to help me out. Please support locally owned business rather than chain stores. Keep the nostalgic of your...
Read moreMy Google Maps has retro games stores located all over the place and I like to stop by any retro game store that I can when I am traveling. I travel all over the country. Today I happened to be traveling through Tupelo and stopped by Alpha Gaming. I was quite impressed with what the store offered. Game selection was very good with titles that I was surprised to see. And the prices were very fair. There is a section in the back for other gaming such as card games and board games if someone desires to set up. My experience with the workers was awesome and had a great time chatting with them about what the store offers to the locals for gaming opportunities. Definitely recommend stopping in. I am sure you won’t be...
