Cantina Del Sol — Restaurant in Tupelo

From the moment we were seated, this was a disappointing experience. Waitress seemed irritated that we didn't order as soon as we sat down. We are from several states away...so our first time at this restaurant. We had researched Mexican restaurants as our previous experiences usually prove they have the best margueritas. 😊 When the waitress got off her phone and finally returned to our table, we ordered drinks and thought we'd peruse the menu a bit over our drinks, chip, and dip. Again her body language clearly indicated she was irritated we were not ordering. It was NOT busy in the restaurant...what is the deal? And it was 90 min til closing. Next time she came we had to wave her over...ridiculous. I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't have regular tacos or enchiladas on the menu. So I simply asked her if they had either of these items...wrong thing to do. Now we have full on eye roll and attitude. Sorry, but not a good way to get a tip...soooo just 2 of us ordered a taco salad (can't screw that up...right) and our other friend ordered street tacos. Well, you can screw up taco salad. Absolutely gross, tasteless soggy meat, disgusting. Margaritas were mediocre and weak. Needless to say, we will not stop here on the was home and am surprised it has as high of a rating as it has. Hopefully it was an off night...but it's $70 gone and easily 75% of our order was...

Went to use bathroom and it was a slip n slide So i left. Could not use bathroom ,water on floor Sloppy mopping i guess Dangerous. Ice cream was hard very difficult to scoop Tiny lil cups provided Asked for larger one Still got a small bowl. Guy wasnt too friendly Older guy...

Where do I start?! First of all, we came to town for a job and were just popping in somewhere close to our hotel and when I tell you we did NOT expect what we got- I'm not lying.

Our server was polite, knowledgeable and his recommendations were on point! My only regret is not getting his name for this review. My husband ordered the Molcajete and I got the Tequila Pollo after he suggested, and neither dish disappointed. The flavor was everything (I tried my husband's also 🤤) and the serving sizes! Y'all! If I would not have stuffed myself there, I'd have two meals from one dish. Instead I combined our two meals and got one plate- still plenty left.

We will definitely be back. I thought there was a bell to ring for the chef, but I didn't see it. If you go and see the bell there RING IT FOR ME!
