JET SKIING
Neither of us had Jet Skied before. Josh’s response was, “I love first timers, because you’ll come in totally different than when you went out.”
Josh gave us an introduction to how Jet Skis work, and we were on our way. He gave us plenty of space to get our feel of the Jet Ski, but also kept a good eye on us in his rearview mirror. We felt completely comfortable with Josh’s instructions and the Jet Skis were in excellent condition.
In our hour together, Josh took us to three different spots of interest. We loved learning more about the area and what it means to those who live there.
Spending time with Josh was a wonderful experience. He is #1 in customer service and personality. He told us that his goal was to make sure we had a great time, and we did. His love of the Islands was inspiring, and it was special to see his home through his eyes.
Jet Skiing on the Caribbean Sea was a thrilling. And Josh was right. We were much better skiers by the end.
EXCURSION TO VIRGIN GORDA BATHS AND SNORKELING AT NORMAN ISLAND CAVES
I don’t often pay much for excursions. My vacation strategy is to enjoy all of the free activities offered by the resort.
However, I was dedicating this trip to seeing all of the US Virgin Islands and some of the British ones. After researching all – and I mean all – of the possibilities, booking this excursion with Cruz Bay Watersports made sense.
And it was a better experience that I could have ever imagined!
When we boarded the boat, Island Times, we were enthusiastically greeted by the crew: Capt. Remo, Elijah, and Bobbie. Throughout the entire trip, the crew was professional, fun, and light hearted. They clearly enjoy working together and were 100% focused on ensuring all of us on board had a remarkable experience.
The Island Times was sparkling clean and comfortable. There were plenty of seats for both the sun and shade lovers on board. A continental breakfast of mini-quiches, croissant, fresh fruit, and juices was waiting for us upon boarding.
It was a fairly early departure, and there were lots of parents with teens on board. Now that we have grown children, my husband I laughed quietly about all the teens who looked like they would rather be in bed. But by the end, it was clear that they, too, had the time of their lives on the excursion.
As Capt. Remo threaded through the Islands (while providing excellent music), Bobbie told us all about what we were seeing. We chatted with Elijah about how he was fairly new to the Island Times, how much he loved it, and his plans to eventually become a captain. All-in-all, it was an entertaining couple of hours that flew by.
Arriving on Virgin Gorda, Bobbie and Elijah gathered us to the open-air taxis to the Baths. Bobbie had forewarned us that there were cruise ship passengers touring at the same time as us. She expertly led all 44 of us through the scrum. It ended up feeling like we were the only ones on the trail to the Baths and Bobbie provided us an excellent explanation of the flora and fauna we saw along the way.
Upon arriving at the Baths, we had 10-15 minutes in the water, which was heavenly. The hike back from the baths was exciting, with boulders to skirt and short ladders to climb. We took a break for Bobbie to explain more about the formation of the Baths.
After reaching the restaurant Top of the Baths (with outstanding views), my husband I felt we had earned the cheeseburger and fries. Bobbie and Elijah got all 44 of us back on the open-air taxis, we reboarded Island Times, and then were off for the short trip to Norman Island Caves for snorkeling.
I had a bit of trepidation, as it had been 30 years since I snorkeled. However, the crew provided us with excellent and sanitized (thank you) equipment, including a flotation belt. It was a fascinating experience of caves and sea life, and I’m glad I took the plunge.
The fresh water shower to rinse off the salt water was appreciated. And now the bar was open! Two Painkillers on the way back to St. John were just what the...

Cruz Bay Watersports made our visit to St. John unforgettable! We loved the convenience of having their storefront right at our resort, the Westin St. John Resort & Villas, making it so easy to book a tour. The guided jet ski tour we took was hands-down the most fun we had during our trip!
We started the 1 hour tour from our resort in Great Cruz Bay to our 1st stop at Steven Cay before heading north to Two Brothers island for more fun jet skiiing near the island. On the way back, we stopped near deeper waters to zip around Moraviane Reef - safe for jet skiing and being away from boat traffic.
A special shout-out to our guide, Josh, who took incredible care of us throughout the entire experience. I was a bit nervous at first, but Josh was so attentive and made me feel completely at ease. He kept a close eye on me while I followed behind and ensured that I was comfortable and safe the whole time.
Josh also went above and beyond by taking plenty of videos and photos of us on the jet skis, which gave us the best memories to take home. If you're looking for a fun and safe adventure while in St. John, Cruz Bay Watersports is the way to go. We'll...
Read moreMy family spent two afternoons on their Jamin’ catamaran snorkeling trips and could not be happier. We went out one morning to their Lime In taco snorkel with our kids (11 and 8). Needless to say they weren’t the cleanest kids on the boat but the crew, led by Erin was so gracious about their many spills! We saw turtles and rays aplenty on both days. The Lime Inn tour started early and they had breakfast available with croissants and plenty of fresh fruit, and SO many drinks. What a lovely time we all had. It was a family member’s birthday (and someone else’s) and without planning ahead we had an impromptu champagne toast! Shout out to Kareem who helped really make the trip a party!
The second day we went to Pizza Pi at Christmas Cove, also led by Erin. Same and same, a great time and the crew brought a great pasta salad and a bean salad to go with the tasty pizza near St. Thomas. Wonderful snorkels at Christmas Cove and Scott Key with lots of turtles and rays.
We’ve been using Cruz Bay Watersports for years and will be returning to them in the future.
Also shout out to Franco on the beach who set us up with ocean kayaks without reservation. Super friendly and...
