My spouse and I opted to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary at Valley Forge Casino.
Upon arrival at the hotel parking lot on Friday, July 14th, around 9 PM, we encountered some challenges finding a parking spot, which is expected in a hotel and casino setting. The reception staff efficiently verified my information, handed over the keys, and provided directions to our room. I had to inquire about the floor and location of the elevators.
Although the room was generally pleasant, it was slightly smaller compared to others I have stayed in. The beds were comfortable, complemented by quality pillows and blankets. The air conditioning system was robust, promptly cooling the room. While searching for an extra blanket, we discovered that there were no additional blankets or pillows in the closet.
Deciding to explore the premises, we ventured into the casino area. The casino itself was decently sized, however, one drawback was the allowance of smoking, resulting in prevalent smoke odor in most areas.
Since our intention was not to gamble but rather to explore, we proceeded to the pool area known as "Valley Beach." Surprisingly, there were very few people present—a couple playing cornhole, another couple cuddling in the pool, and a handful of others scattered around, including a DJ. We contemplated returning to our room to change into swimming cloths, however, we noticed that the couple in the pool seemed to be engaged in more intimate activities. After approximately 15 minutes, two males from the cornhole area approached the female in the pool, exchanged a few words, and left, prompting her to hastily exit the pool and depart with them. The male who had been "cuddling" with her calmly exited the pool, showered in the outdoor facilities, changed his attire, discarded his wet swim trunks in a nearby trash can, and left the pool area in a different direction than the female he was with. It became evident what had transpired, and this unexpected situation dampened the atmosphere, dissuading us from swimming. We subsequently left the pool area and returned to our room.
Regrettably, upon reaching our floor, we discovered that a party was taking place in some adjacent rooms. At times, the noise level escalated, causing a minor disturbance. Thankfully, the hotel's thick walls provided reasonable soundproofing, although some noise could still be heard through the front door. While it was somewhat unsettling, it did not prompt me to contact the front desk.
The following day, Saturday the 15th, we spent our time away from the hotel and returned around 7:25 PM.
As we approached the entrance, a strong smell of marijuana permeated the surroundings. Hastening our entry, we encountered a heated argument between a man and a woman in the lobby. The man was loudly berating the woman, expressing his dangerous nature and advising her against provoking him. We swiftly made our way to the elevator, which transported us back to our room upstairs, where we decided not to venture out again.
I eventually fell asleep around 9:30 PM but was abruptly awakened at 10 PM and again at 11:30 PM by people screaming outside my door. Evidently, a raucous party was underway in the hallway, with several dozen individuals causing a disturbance. Realizing the situation was untenable, we proceeded to the front desk, only to find a notice stating that it was closed and directing guests to the casino front desk located in another building. We proceeded to that front desk and expressed our concerns, contemplating checking out early. To our disappointment, the staff member simply extended her hand, took the room keys, and stated, "You're good," without offering any apologies or assistance from a manager to address the situation.
Based on my weekend experience, I conclude that this establishment is not suitable for families or couples seeking a tranquil...
Read moreHands down the worst experience I’ve ever had. We stayed Thursday-Sunday each day it was something new starting with the pool not being opened knowing they were going to have a full house due to the different events that were happening during the weekend. The construction starting at 8 am was ridiculous it sounded like they were directly above our room with hammers & drills. Needless to say my children & myself did not get to sleep in on our mini vacation. Things in the room didn’t work properly. It was like pulling teeth trying to get the front desk to send someone up with towels & toilet paper. There are so many more complaints I have about this establishment, but the icing on the cake for me! Is when I got home Sunday called to speak with a manager to let them know our stay was horrible & the staff were not on the same page with each other at all. I didn’t receive a call back until Monday spoke with the first manager Patrica she tried her hardest to give me a free nights stay but after everything I would not drive that far for a stay there every AGAIN. When I told her that wouldn’t do she said she would have to pass me along to the next manager since he would be able to do more if possible. Well Farrukh was absolutely no help all he did was repeat what Patrica had said & apologized. That sir does nothing for the horrible experience I’ve just had in your hotel. Once I tell him that’s not good enough he says give him 5 minutes to call me after he speaks with his manager. The nerve! When he calls back he tells me same thing nothing I can do but give you a free night stay when I ask for the corporate number he declined giving it. Then when I ask for him to stop chewing his food in my ear as we’re on the phone he proceeds to tell me I’m rude & he will be saying his goodbyes now. When I say I want the corporate number again he told me “I’m not giving it to you google it yourself”. So when I call back the front desk staff stated they don’t have the number they would have to ask the manager & call me back… still waiting they won’t call back that just shows how great their customer service skills are.
I don’t even understand how this establishment is still in business. One star because it won’t...
Read moreUpdate:Aug 2022 Shout out to the front desk ladies who checked me in and out. They were awesome and had great style. Sad part on the hotel is we've been coming here for 6years and just found out they had a pool. I asked if it was new and they said we just had it remodeled but we've always had it. Also the Dunkin doughnuts people who are in the little food court area, need to step up their game. They didn't run out like last year but I watched several people have to their drinks remade because they weren't right. Example i heard a gentleman order a black coffee and hot mocha latte. the 1st time through he got a black iced tea and iced latte, he waits and goes through the line again shows his receipt to the register who apologizes 2nd time hot black tea and a iced mocha latte repeat to the cashier 3rd time Black coffee and no mocha latte
Otherwise the hotel did a good job for our convention.
June 2021 this is our 5 or 6th year coming here for a convention and love it. I have 1complaint but it is post-covid you could only get food in the casino food court as the other restaurants were closed or super limited capacity (which I totally understand) but the Dunkin doughnuts ran out of food twice even though the event people told them 2 months in advance that a group of 500++ we're coming.
Ok Super shout out for their front desk and maintenance people, the A/C wasn't working in our room the 1st night. When I told them at the front desk the next morning the guy was there in under 3mins and he even set it for a cooler temp as I like a cooler room. plus the front desk had house keeping to put an extra blanket on the other bed for my husband as hes Always cool.
can't wait for next year.
side note on the convention hall. It huge and has a 'private' ramp vendors can pull into so we can unload in hot or cool weather plus the tear down guys always wait to pick up chairs until all the vendors can are gone so you don't have to sit on the floor while you wait your turn to load...
