Vashon Theatre — Attraction in Vashon Island

LOVE our little island theatre, located in a historic building in the heart of Vashon Town. The only reason I ding them one star is that there are no restrooms on the 1st/Ground floor, which makes seeing a movie difficult to impossible for folks who have mobility issues (there is no elevator to the 2nd floor, where the restrooms are located). Otherwise, the Vashon Theatre does a stellar job with providing great entertainment for residents and visitors alike. They show a wide variety of first run, arthouse, indie, documentary, and classic films. In addition, many live events are also hosted here - many which benefit non-profit organizations on the island. They also live stream opera and shakespeare from New York and London. Parents find it a great option for winter-weather birthday parties too, especially for the under 12 crowd. Me and my boyfriend had an incredible experience here. we went to go see Mario in 3D and I had a really lovely time. I love the small intimate feel of a one screen theater and at the same time there was a large seating area with all your typical 1 tiered viewing options.

We ordered popcorn and two beers and it was under 25. I came back later for a refill a soda and another beer and my total was under $15. The service was friendly and prompt. Restrooms are located on the 2nd floor. The box office opens something like 30 minutes before the movie shows and the line for concessions gets long FAST and the person who was serving us was super fast and I could tell you was in the zone.

The Vashon theater has been a staple in the community for as long as I can remember. It is a simple, one screen venue that offers so much more than just movies. It gives you the experience of watching a movie with the community because of how many people you may run into that you know. It provides us with a place to create memories with friends, especially when you can rent the theater out for your own events. It gives us something to look forward to at the end of the week and something new to experience like its multiple showings of movies in a day or when they play live Broadway theater from New York!
