I have been assisting my 75 yr. old mother with this cataract surgery & have been thoroughly discouraged with the entire process.
The consultation process was all about the $. It seems they prioritize securing payment above all else, even the patients' well-being. I understand that it is a business, but the hard sell approach, attempts at upselling & veracity of securing payment are reminiscent of the time-share industry. It is clear that the patient's experience and satisfaction are not where their focus lies.
The surgery center visit was akin to being treated like cattle. They communicate clearly & repeatedly concerning payment, but do not concerning treatment. Rescheduled procedure at last second because of their mistake & was only informed the night before because I called to verify. Otherwise, we would not have known until we got there. My mother was taken very late. Upon release, I was informed that "There was a complication. She's fine, but that's why it took so long. "
The doctor never spoke with me. The only information I got was from the nurse (who just repeated boilerplate info about not gardening, swimming, etc.) & my 75 yr. old mother coming out of recovery.
The next morning follow-up visit to check on capsular retention ring "complication", she was in intense pain. Was told (by my mother b/c again, no one spoke to me) 3 prescriptions were called in, yet again more drops, something for pain & something for sleep. Only drops were called in. Called the number for doctor's office to report symptoms, i.e. severe pain, etc. It is just a call center that could not get anyone to answer the phone at the doctors office. This occurred @ 11 a.m.
I am now in an Uber with my mother on the way to Urgent Care b/c I am too furious to drive.
They can't even answer the phone. Why would the contact number for emergencies be to a call center that can't even contact the doctor?
If you want professionals that actually care about people & act accordingly, DO NOT USE CVP.
I will definitely be getting mine done at a...
Read moreExcellent Lasik experience at VA Beach Eye Center. Once I made my decision to move forward with having my vision corrected I researched possible procedures and had evaluations with a couple highly rated local providers. VA Beach Eye Center was by far the most thorough, professional, and least pushy. Lasik is not something I'm looking for a 'deal' on....not like shopping for a used car which is the feeling I received from other Lasik providers.
My Surgery Coordinator was Julianne H. who was friendly, professional and very willing to provide answers to all questions and concerns I had regarding the procedure. I was able to meet Dr. Kurz a couple times prior to my actual surgery who was also very professional, informative and at no point did I ever feel pressured into making a decision to follow through with Lasik.
I would say my experience was outstanding and the results were probably well above average. Pre Lasik I was practically legally blind without contacts or glasses. Post Lasik I have 20/15 vision with virtually no side effects (slightly dry eyes when I wake up early in the morning, nothing a couple lubricating drops don't fix instantly, this has gotten better over the past couple weeks). Post opp you have one day of basically laying around the house with your eyes closed, the day after surgery I was seeing very clear just sensitive to bright light, and after a week of medicated drops a few times a day I am 20/15 and back to normal eye comfort. I should mention I am just over 2 weeks out of surgery and I have zero discomfort.
I should have done this a long time ago.
Thanks Virginia Beach Eye Center, Julianne,...
Read moreI had surgery last year, went to my first follow up, then decided that they are too big now that they have merged and no ones on the same page...They made an appt for me prior to surgery "to measure my lens" I had to pay my copay again, this should already be included in the cost of the surgery, but I paid it anyway...when I got there either the person who measures called in or wasnt there that day...they quickly did a regular exam which they had just done a week before and then had me sign paperwork...I am assuming to justify charging my insurance again which is not legal. Then they scheduled the lens measuring one week later and upon arrival I was told that I already had made the copayment last week and did not need to...I have been billed continually for that copay that I already paid, for almost a year now. When I explained to a receptionist at another location, she said "it's not us billing you the copay again, it's your insurance" sooo I called my insurance and they said that it wasn't them. That entire appt, the day they made a mistake should never have billed to my ins. company nor should I have to pay another copayment because they made a scheduling error....I need to finish the work on my eyes, get glasses and possibly need another surgery. Anyone know a professional honest eye dr? Thanks in advance Virginia Eye Consultants called me shortly after this review and straightened things out :) I will be using...
