Buena Vista Park is a staple for us. It doesn’t have playgrounds but it’s a great spot for a picnic and exploring with kids of all ages! There are 2 trailheads that start from the parking lot and almost every trail is flat enough that anyone can hike them. We used to hike the trails when our son was light enough to fit in our Lille Baby carrier and now he loves to run on the paths all on his own. I have used our BOB jogging stroller on some of these trails and it works perfectly. It’s so nice to have the stroller for when our son gets tired and needs a place to rest.
💰This park is free 🚽Restrooms at the parking lot 🚙Free parking lot but it can be busy on the weekends so you might have to park on the street (which is also free) 🥾Trails are flat enough that they can accommodate strollers. I’ve also seen many families with young kids riding bikes and hiking together on the trails 🐶Dogs allowed (on leash only) 🧺Picnic tables in the grass 🦆Duck pond 🖼Multiple grassy areas. Right outside the gate on Shadowridge Drive, there’s an extremely large lawn with a few more picnic tables but it does back up to the busy street ⚾️Within walking distance of the Buena Vista Ballfields ❕Limited shade. Make sure you bring sunscreen, water, and snacks for...

If small dog owners would follow the posted legal law dogs must be leashed at all times or were responsible owners with their dogs off leash I would give 5 stars.
I have a 80 lb 1 year 5 month old husky & German shepherd male dog I walk with my own arthritis at 32 for the past 10 years it's less enjoyable to have to wait around while being on alert for those law breaking park visitors and their rodents of dogs they laugh at off leash running at my large dog... I had a Pom mix dog I wouldn't ever allow to act in the way many of these illegally off leash small dogs act and their 💩 pet parents aren't making...

There is a wide variety of micro systems to explore here from desert to grassy plain to lightly populated forest and scrub plain. the signs say stay out of the water and the lake by the parking lot is no exception the banks are steep and the Water is murky and briney. however much farther in about 6 miles there is a clear blue lake and water fall that people swim in even though you are not supposed to. Also an excellent place to meditate, yoga and...
