5th Quarter Butcher + Provisions (formerly Mad River Taste Place) — Attraction in Waitsfield

Wanted to stop at this place since not all the cheese farms were open and selling at their locations. They have a vast variety of cheeses (and other treats too). It wasn't that busy, with only one couple in front of us who the female worker was helping. Weirdly the male worker did not offer to help us (but did others who came after us), so we almost just left because that is somewhat of an unwelcoming vibe. Once the female worker, Jordan, finished she helped us out (so we were happy we stayed!). She was so knowledgeable and really helped guide us with our purchases. She assisted us to pick out cheeses, meat, sauces and alcohol. She was also helpful in telling us about things to do locally too. We visited in November while on vacation and it was fantastic! If anything they set the bar so exceptionally high that we’re disappointed with our local offerings now that we’re back home lol. We’ve been trying to find the cheeses we ordered at Mad River Taste Place down here in Florida, but they just aren’t the same. So we’ll be ordering online from Taste Place from now on instead! :) Both staff members that helped us were extremely friendly and patient as we asked questions and sampled cheeses. They packaged and sliced our order for us perfectly for us to enjoy a makeshift charcuterie in the lodge we were staying at, which was super nice of them to do. In its exceptionally beautiful space, it carries an excellent variety of Vermont products, emphasis on cheese, but there is so much more, local breads and other baked goods, coffee, all kinds of bottled sauces and drinks and so much more and has responded to the current crisis with easy online ordering and a great "newish" website that shows reminders of all the offerings when we cannot browse inside.
