I come here for the Wakefield Farmer's Market every Saturday from 9am-1pm. The Farmer's Market is great and has so many vendors selling locally made fresh honey, fresh produce, fresh fish, fresh pasta, fresh dog treats, fresh sauces/marinades, and so much more! Sometimes there's different vendors on a specific Saturday. There's also a Misting Tent for those extremely hot days, which is sponsored by Stephen's Auto Body. If you've never been to the Farmer's Market, it's amazing and fun to walk around! **For those with EBT/Snap benefits, there's an EBT Tent where you can spend $15 EBT and they give you $30 Wakefield Farmer's Market Money - like Monopoly money - to spend at any vendor! **Plus, Farmer Dave's Tent accepts EBT Cards and most people get $40 or more instantly reimbursed to their EBT Card once a month by buying at a local Farmer's Market - most Farmer's Markets offer this instant benefit! And, you don't even need the $40 balance on your EBT Card, all you need is a $1 balance and it will be processed to cover the allotted amount that you get reimbursed – a lot of people don't know this, so I figured I'd mention it.
The park itself is nice...it's all grass and big trees with a paved walkway and views of the Wakefield Lake. A beautiful open park to take your dog for a walk, have a picnic, or let kids play! (FYI: There's NO fence, so make sure your dog is on a leash)
There's tons of little stores/shops and hair salons right down the street on Main Street. There's a Honey Dew not too far away. And, my absolute favorite, The Gingerbread Construction Company is nearby on the other side of the lake but it's a decent walk there – if you go, get the Gingerbread Muffin! The iced coffee is amazing too!
Other than the stores and coffee shops in the surrounding area and the Farmer's Market, this park is literally just that – a field with grass, trees, and a paved walkway. That's why I figured I'd mention the local places in the area.
Hope this...
Read moreVeterans Field is fabulous spot to watch the 4th of July fireworks. The lake front field area offers ample ground space to take a seat, rest your feet, and enjoy the spectacular show that Wakefield puts on. There's convenient free parking near the softball field. There was also the standard fried dough, cotton candy, ice cream, and french-fried eats offered by local food trucks during the holiday event. Beyond that, from an everyday standpoint, the park area is a great place to catch some sun, have a picnic, go for a walk, root for the home team during a local softball game, or grab some fresh veggies from a local seller during the weekly summer farmer's market. Overall, if you're looking for a family and pet friendly area to hang out, Veterans Field checks the box in...
Read moreI love the scenery here. The water had an alge that's toxic here. But there are plenty of immigrants that eat the fish. And have been for years now. I'm not sure they know or if they care. I do so, I was sure to let them know of the dangers.
I really wish the city would embrace the active lifestyles of the younger adults. They did add a pickeball court, but I truly think this would make a perfect setting for a modern vert style skatepark. Now that it's become an official Olympic sport, we should jump on board. With the beautiful lake as a backdrop, it'll for sure become the talk of the town, state, even the world. The kids, teens (and...
