If u are looking for a different and exciting way to spend a couple of hours...THIS IS IT!!! We did Son of the Zodiac on Sat afternoon. Even though im familiar with the grouping of brick buildings Quandary (Q) is in, it was a little misleading finding it...GPS vs Human? But we found it and we were not deterred or demotivated. We were three middle-aged adventurous women looking for a fun afternoon in our first escape room AND WE FOUND IT! The atmosphere of the stairs leading up to and the design that Q has worked on all set the mood for the experience. We were greeted by one of the workers while another worker was prepping two younger girls to do the other room (Gambit). While they were taken to Gambit, we took in the room with props on the walls and also took a couple selfies 🤳 . We met with our game master, Jonah, who greeted us and we talked about it being our first room. He gave us necessary info about escape rooms and encouraged questions. He then went and checked on a few things and when he came back, he went right into game mode. Exciting! It was good that he let us know about asking for as many hints as we wanted (unlimited) because we used them! The game master is viewing whats going on in the room at all times and is very good about receiving the request for a hint and then typing that hint so you can view it on the screen. He also made sure we were comfortable in the room. Prior, we asked if we were going to be locked in the room. I believe he pointed out that CT has a law against that. I may be getting it confused with something else, but I knew we wouldn't be locked in. This was a 2 room experience and I think that gave the adventure just the texture needed to further build on the excitement. A screen/monitor is in both rooms for the convenience of the countdown and for receiving hints. Ask for them! If u haven't done one of these before, know that little hidden "puzzle pieces" are everywhere. Communicate with your group members so that you can fit them together. Also, if there's anything you don't understand, ask. Somehow, we missed what our main goal was going to be to finish the game. We asked him and got a clear answer. But to us, b/c we had never done one before and probably b/c of our angst, it still didn't make total sense until we post-gamed and put it all together afterward. We will DEF come back to Q for another adventure. Thanks so much,...
Read moreGiving 3 stars only because I feel bad for the female working alone late at night who was polite when she realized we accidentally booked for the wrong day. We have been here before and although the rooms are awesome and we thoroughly enjoy the decor the management or whoever is in charge with answering the main phone lines needs some serious work in customer service. Only in town for a few days and we wanted to do something fun so we booked right before heading out to the escape room. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice young female worker (wearing a belly shirt, mind you belly piercing out and all…) she was polite and brought us up stairs to sit and watch a video. Another family walks in and you can see the confusion on her face. Turns out we booked for the wrong day by accident. Honest mistake. We asked if they had any other times that evening and she stated there was absolutely none and kept stating she’s “all by herself”. We figured since it was an honest mistake and we had shown up for what we thought was our booking we’d call and request a refund right away as the booking we’d scheduled was not until the next day. We were met with nothing but hostility from the person answering the phone, telling us to calm down when we were speaking calmly because she was frustrated we had already booked a room at a different escape place instead of taking an option for a room in Rocky Hill which was out of the way from where we were coming from. She argued over how rude it was for us to cancel and stated we could have gotten a different time even though we repeatedly told her that we asked the girl if she had any other that evening and she said no. Stated, “she didn’t understand what she was doing and that you could have went to rocky hill” even though we clearly stated we were not making the drive to rocky hill regardless and as if it is our job to train their workers on situations such as these. Horrible experience for a place we actually liked. We will not be returning when we have the inclining to escape a room on our...
Read moreGreat room but VERY POOR Guide, Jamie, for our experience. Zero enthusiasm or excitement, minimal help, although we could have used it .. and at the end just said “I’m just tired today so I have no energy for this” are you kidding!!
We came because I read that the guides were so enthusiastic… and we myself and 3 kids) got a guide who admittedly said “I have no energy today - sorry”
Very poor experience
Follow-up up after speaking to manager.
Yes - everyone has bad days .. but that was our first experience and your leader agreed she had said those things and lacked enthusiasm so that is what the rating was based off of. More disturbing was that you freely admitted that cameras had not been moved since the previous owners were there and you couldn’t see most of the room we were in and that “sometimes” the computer glitches so a non- response from the leader is something that happens.
You may want to tell folks I asked for “comp’d tickets” and I did ….. after you asked me if Google reviews can be edited or deleted… I won’t take your $5 off coupon or even half price so I can have your crew prepped to give us their best that day… everyone coming in should feel like they are the only group coming in and not get “I’m so tired”… and seeing us struggle for 10 minutes on a specific lock because we are out of the range of the...
